ダートモアの Gidleigh Park での２日目は良いお天気で、夫がプランを立ててくれました。既にアップしましたが、ダートモアやデボンの景色は本当にイギリスの典型的な田舎の景色で何度行っても感動します。景色を楽しみながら、コーンウォルの端っこにある国立公園までドライブしたのですが（後ほど、アップします）、途中で見かけた Two Bridges というホテルのパブでランチをしました。良いお天気でしたし、パラソルの下のテーブルが空いていたので外でいただきました。

The weather was lovely on our 2nd day at Gidleigh Park in Dartmoor, and my husband made a plan for a day out.  Like I’ve already blogged, we enjoyed the beautiful scenery while we drove in Dartmoor and the nearby area, and we visited a National Trust garden at the edge of Cornwall (I’ll blog it later).  We saw a hotel, “Two Bridges”, around lunch time so we stopped there for lunch.  As I wrote, the weather was so lovely, we sat outside under a parasol.

この日、夜はお友達とイタリアンに行く予定だったのでランチは軽く、夫はプラウマン、わたしはウェルッシュ・レアビット。夫のプラウマンのパイはあまり美味しくなかったそうですし、パンはフワフワのロールパンでプラウマンには合わないと言っていました。そして、わたしのウェルッシュ・レアビットは偽物でした。というのは、ウェルッシュ・レアッビットというのは、パンにチーズを乗せて焼いたものに見えますが、ビールやマスタードウスターソースとチーズを混ぜたものをパンに乗せてこんがりと焼いたものなのです。でも、これはただのチーズ・オン・トーストでした。しかもこれもまたフワフワのロールパンを半分に切ったものなので、食感が物たらず、美味しくありませんでした。そんなランチが、ビール大１杯、小さい１杯とで35ポンド（6750円）です、悲しくなりますね。残念ながら、ロンドン以外、イギリスはまだまだ食べ物が美味しくないところが多すぎます。

We were going to go to an Italian restaurant that evening for dinner with our friend so we didn’t want to eat a proper lunch and my husband had Ploughman’s and I had Welsh Rarebit.  My husband didn’t enjoy the pork (?) pie or the bread, which was too fluffy to have with cheese.  Also my Welsh Rarebit was fake, it was not Welsh Rarebit!  Welsh Rarebit should have complex flavour of beer, mustard & Worcestershire sauce with cheese and also the top should be nice and brown, it was just ordinary cheese on toast.  The bread was also a very soft roll so it didn’t have much texture.  Together it cost us £35 with a pint and a half of beer!  I know that’s normal in England but only if the food is good!  Sadly, apart from London, food is still bad very often in England, which makes us feel very sad.
