今日はお昼前に用があって外出したついでに、ラスティントンにあるカフェ「Fig」でランチをしました。ここはずいぶん前に刺繍の会のメンバーの方がとても美味しいとおっしゃっていたカフェで、夜はタパスレストランになります。２年くらい前に１度、夜、タパスをいただいたことがあります。昼間のカフェの時間帯も美味しいと聞いていたので、今回行ってみました。

We had to go out for a chore before lunch time, so we went to “Fig” in Rustington after we had finished.  I’ve heard from a member of the embroidery group I meet some years ago that it is a very nice cafe during the day and a very nice tapas bar at night.  We went there once for tapas a couple of years ago but this was the first time to be there for the cafe.

夫はカプレーゼ・ベネディクト。イングリッシュ・マフィンの上に、トマト、モッツァレラ、潰したアボカド、ポーチドエッグ、ホランデーズソース。ポーチドエッグの黄身が流れる柔らかさではなかったのが残念。

My husband had Caprese Eggs Benedict – English muffin, tomato, mozzarella, smashed avocado, poached egg, hollandaise sauce.  Sadly the poached eggs were overcooked and the egg yolks were set.

私は、サワドーのパンのフムスと焼き野菜とほうれん草のサンドイッチ。美味しくいただきました。

I had sourdough bread sandwich with hummus, grilled vegetables & spinach, it was good.

小さな街をぐるっと廻って、本屋さんに寄って帰ってきました。

We walked in the little town, went in Waterstones and came back home.

今日も結構暑いです。ラベンダーやキャットミントを刈り取らなくてはいけない時期なのでガーデニングもしなくては、なのですが、暑くて。。。花殻摘みと、ハンギングバスケットにお水を揚げただけ。明日、ガーデナーさんが来られるので、お願いしようと思います。

It’s quite hot today again.  I should have done some gardening like pruning lavenders and catmints but it’s too hot for me to be under the sun, so I just did deadheading of petunias and watering the hanging baskets.
