Venice Day 1 / Dinner

For our dinner we went to “La Piazza”, which was recommended by someone in a blog. In the evening there are fewer people in San Marco and it feels a lot calmer.

The dinner at La Piazza last night. My husband had his usual Caprese and I had Grilled Vegetables as a starter. Some of the vegetables were almost raw, with no seasoning and the dish was too much for a starter so I left about a half. For the main my husband had Pistachio Crusted Tuna and I had Lasagna with “real beef ragu”. It tasted good although a bit too salty for me but it was so dense as there were about 6 or more layers of lasagna sheets. I didn’t even manage to have 1/4. We were going to order Cannoli for dessert but were told it was sold out, so we ended up ordering a Tiramisu to share. It was way too light, I guess they didn’t use any or much Mascarpone. Also we thought the portion was very small comparing to other dishes we had.

It is very hard to find good food in Venice as most of the customers are tourists like us and places also tend to be expensive. Considering that, I suppose it wasn’t bad. It was certainly very popular, we had to wait outside for 10 minutes or so even though we made a booking and there were always quite a few people queuing.
