引き続き、ヒートウェーブ中。今日も３０度くらい。明日は３２度の予報、ロンドンは３５度の予報。今日も昨日同様ダイニングルームのエアコンをつけておいて、キッチンからリビングまで涼しくして過ごしました。上の階は寒いくらいの日でも結構暑くなるので、イタリアから戻って以来、ずっとクーラーをつけて寝てはいましたが、すごく弱くても良い感じでした、でも、昨日の夜はそれでは効かず、パワーを結構強くする必要がありました。クーラーがなかったら、扇風機だけではわたしは多分眠れなかったと思います。
We’re still in the middle of a heatwave, it was about 30C today again and expected to be 32C tomorrow, 35C in London (though these numbers seem to be changing all the time). We kept the air-conditioning on in the dining room so from the kitchen to the living room is nice and cool like we did yesterday. Even when it’s cool our upstairs gets very warm so we’ve been using the air-conditioning since we came back from Italy but on a very low power. However, last night, it didn’t seem to work on a very low power and we had to turn it up higher. Without an air-conditioner, with only a fan, I don’t think I could have slept at all because it really was warm in the bedroom.
今日の夕食は、Hello Fresh の「Fast Fragrant Vietnamese Style Chicken Salad with Croutons, Mint and Peanuts（香りの良いさっと作れるベトナム風チキンサラダ、クルトン、ミント、ピーナッツと）」でした。チキンはフライパンで焼いてケチャップマニスと蜂蜜を絡めます。ボールにドレッシングのライム汁、お砂糖、オリーブオイル、塩胡椒を入れて、レタス、トマト、きゅうり、ミント、オーブンで焼いたクルトンを入れて混ぜ、お皿に盛り、チキンをのせ、ピーナッツを散らして出来上がり。トマトが小さなのが１つだけだったので１つ足し、シャンツァイも足しました。何がベトナム風かと言われれば、ミントとピーナッツですかね？お塩の代わりにフィッシュソースを使えばもっと本格的な味になると思いますが、特にベトナム風ということを意識しなければ美味しくいただけます。さっぱりとしていて、今日のように暑い日にもぴったり。
Today’s dinner was “Fast Fragrant Vietnamese Style Chicken Salad with Croutons, Mint and Peanuts” from Hello Fresh. Chicken was just pan fried then coated with kejap manis and honey. You put lime juice, sugar, olive oil, salt & pepper in a bowl, add lettuce, tomato, cucumber, mint & toasted croutons, mix it all, plate it, top it with the chicken pieces and scatter some peanuts on top. The tomato in the kit was very small so we added one of ours own and also added some coriander leaves. I guess it’s mint and peanuts that are ‘Vietnamese’, I think if they use fish sauce instead of salt it would taste more like Vietnamese. It is very enjoyable as it is if you don’t expect it to taste Vietnamese, it’s very nice and light and refreshing, so great on a hot day like today.
