今日は少し涼しくて最高気温２４度くらい、わたしたちが Cliveden House に着いた時は２１度くらいで風もあって（夏服なので）寒っ、と思うくらいでした。明日も同じくらい、普段ならイギリスにしては真夏のお天気ですが、今年はずっと暑かったのでやっと涼しくなった、という感じ。でも、また、週末には２７度、来週後半は２９度と暑くなるらしいです。（ロンドンは３０度超え。）いつもは８月になると秋かと思うほど寒いくらいなのに、今年は本当にどうなっているのか。

It was cooler today, about 24C highest.  When we arrived at Cliveden House it was about 21C with a breeze so even felt a little chilly!  It looks like it’ll be about the same tomorrow.  Usually, this temperature is considered ‘warm’ in England but this year we feel it’s finally cooled down!   However, by the weekend, it’ll be hot again, 27C, then later next week it’ll be 29C again!  (Over 30C in London).  Usually when we go out in August it feels almost autumnal and very cool, not this year.

今日の夕食は、先日作ったガスパチョとアフタヌーンティーの残り。（ガスパチョは、大抵５００gのトマトを使って２食分作っています、今年はガスパチョの出番が多い！）スコーンや半分ずつ、ケーキも２人で２つ食べましたが、まだ残っています。

Today’s evening meal was the Gazpacho that we made the other day (we usually make it with 500g tomatoes, which is enough for 2 meals for us) plus some of what we brought back from the afternoon tea.  We shared a scone and also 2 cakes – there are still some cakes left.
