マラケシュでの最初の３泊は、街中のリヤドに滞在しました。
For the 1st 3 nights, we stayed at a Riad called “La Villa Des Oranger ” in Marrakesh.
マラケシュへはロンドンからのフライトで３時間半、でもイミグレで１時間半並びました（涙）。マラケシュの空港の出入国はのんびりしているので人数の割に時間がかかると聞いてはいましたが、わたしたちは特にアンラッキーだったようでいくつかのフライトがほぼ同時に到着して長蛇の列でした。他のお友達たちはそれほどでもなかったようなので、タイミングによるようです。
最初に３泊したリヤド（ホテル）は空港リヤド間の送迎もついていて楽でした。車の中からの途中の景色は、こんな感じです。マラケシュの建物はすべてこのオレンジがかったピンクに統一されています。
It’s only 3.5 hours flight from London to Marrakesh but we queued for the immigration for 1.5 hours! I knew from some information that going through the immigration will take a while but wasn’t expecting as bad as that. Other friends didn’t have to queue as long so I suppose it depends on the timing and we might’ve been specially unlucky.
The riad we stayed at in Marrakesh for the first 3 nights included the car transfer between the airport and the riad so that was very comforting and we were at the riad in 30 minutes.
宿泊先の両隣はタイヤ屋さんとトイレ屋さん（笑）。幅の狭いドアを通って受付があり、受付の奥には外からは想像がつかない気持ち良い中庭が広がっています。
The entrance to our riad was between a tyre shop and a toilet shop! When you go through the narrow door, go past the reception, you’ll come to a beautiful courtyard you cannot imagine from outside.
ちなみに、こちらはこのリアドの前の道から向かい側を撮ったところ。こんな雑多なところにありますが、市場などに歩いていけて便利でした。
わたしたちが宿泊したのは、La Villa Des Oranger というリヤド。リヤドというのは本来中庭がついた「邸宅」のことだそうで、中庭付きの家を宿泊施設として使っているところをそう呼んでいるそうです。泊まったリヤドには中庭にプールとお庭がありたくさんのオレンジの木が植えてあり（ちょうど季節で実がなっていました）、噴水にはバラの花が飾られていて、朝や夕方にはたくさんの小鳥の声がしてとても居心地が良かったです。お部屋で荷物整理をした後は、お庭でモロッコで初めてのミントティーをいただきました。（ちなみにモロッコでは何箇所かでミントティーをいただきましたが、濃さもお砂糖の量もミントの味の濃さもそれぞれ、いろいろでした。）
The riad we stayed at was La Villa Des Oranger. As I say, it had a beautiful courtyard with orange trees, a pool, lovely round tables. After we unpacked, we had our first “real” mint tea in Morocco. (We had mint tea in various places, they were all different, some were very strong, some not so strong, some very sweet, some not so sweet…)
リアドはいつも静かで、お庭の両側にはアルコーブで常に日陰になって寛げる場所が何箇所もあり、日中は雲ひとつない良いお天気で気温は３０度という暑い日々でもひやっとしていて、外から戻ってここでミントティーをいただきながらほっと一息くのが楽しみでした。お部屋の居心地も悪くなかったのですが、ここがとても気持ちよくて、寒くなるまで（夕方には寒くなったので）ここで毎日過ごしたお気に入りの場所です。
Around the courtyard, there were many sitting area including the outside sitting areas in alcoves, where it was very cool even when it was 30C outside. We enjoyed having mint tea there every day after coming back from the hot and busy streets.
壁の凝った飾りやあちらこちらにあるランプや、床のモザイク、どこを見ても素敵。
Wherever you look, you see beautiful details…. so pretty!
他にも中庭の周りの室内にはいくつも寛げる場所があり、インテリアもステキでした。
There were many small rooms, where you can sit and relax, around the courtyard.
わたしたちのお部屋は長い階段を上った２階にありました。豪華ではないけれど居心地は悪く、テーブルの上にもバスルームにもオレンジ色のバラの花が飾られていて、ランプも壁の飾りも床のモザイクもモロッコらしくてとても素敵でした。
Our room was on the 2nd floor after climbing up a long staircase. The room wasn’t luxurious but comfortable. It was lovely to see roses on the table and in the bathroom. Again, wherever you look – the tiles on the floor, the lamps on the ceiling or on the wall etc – every detail was pretty.
わたしたちだけが上がれるルーフテラスもついていましたが、塀が高くて座っていると景色が見えなかったのでたまにしか上りませんでした。モロッコでは幸せの象徴といわれているコウノトリが近くの建物の巣を作っていて、コウノトリが飛ぶのもみられました。
We had our own rooftop terrace. We didn’t spend much time there because the walls were very high and you didn’t see much of the view when you sit on a chair but we could see some nests of white storks.
わたしたちは３泊という短い滞在でいくつかワークショップやツアーに参加したので時間がなくお願いできませんでしたが、リアドでは個人ツアーなどもアレンジしてくださるそうです。場所も結構便利なところにありスタッフの皆さんとても感じが良かったですし、空港とリアドの送迎やランドリー、ソフトドリンクが宿泊料金の含まれているのも良かったです。
決して豪華なホテルではありませんが、モロッコらしさに溢れていてわたしたちはとても気に入りました。ただ、日本人的な感覚で見ると違和感のある方もおら れるかもと思ったりもします。わたしたちはバリ島などアジアの国で慣らされていますのでそれほど気になりませんでしたが、すべて手作り感覚に溢れた雰囲気 です。
We had only 3 nights and had a few organised workshop/tour outside so didn’t have a chance but they would organise a personal tour for you. The rate includes transfer between the riad and the airport, some laundry and soft drinks.
It is not as luxurious as you may imagine from many reviews of the riad but is very charming and comfortable. The staff is very friendly and helpful. If I hadn’t travelled in Asia (like Bali and Phuket) I might have been a little disappointed with certain things because it isn’t “sparkling clean” or “everything is so beautifully finished” but it is Morocco, it’s charming and laid back and full of “handmade” feel. We liked the place very much and would happily go back.
