ビクビクしながら細くてカーブがきつい山道を登っていくと海側に予約したホテルがありました。ホテルは階段を降りていくので、これが最初に目にする景色。写真より実物はもっともっと美しく、テンションが上がりました。
シラクーサを１１時前に出て、ホテルについたのは１時半ごろだったでしょうか。とりあえずフロントに荷物を預けて、ホテルのレストランでランチにすることに。
After driving the narrow curvy road up the mountain, we found our hotel on the sea side of the road. We parked the car and started to walk down the stairs towards the hotel entrance – this is the first view you get. What a view! The photos don’t do it justice.
右に見えるドアがフロントへのドア。階段を更に降りると、ホテルのパティオが左右にあります。
The door on the right is the door to the front desk. If you keep going down the stairs you’ll come to 2 patios, one on the left and one on the right.

We left Syracuse a little before 11.00am and, since we went to Mt Etna on our way, it was probably around 1.30pm, so we had lunch before settling down in our room. Look at the view from the restaurant! We were feeling really good about this hotel.
エトナ山も見えます。煙が出ているのも見えます。

さっそくワインで乾杯して、ランチ。
We ordered wine first then pasta for lunch.
夫は前菜にツナサラダをオーダー。
My husband ordered Tuna Salad for a starter.
わたしは定番の、生ハムとメロン。
I had a basic Melon & Ham.
夫は、ピスタチオソースのパスタ。わたしは、あまり好みではなかったですが夫は美味しいと食べていました。
My husband had penne with pistachio and ricotta cheese sauce. I don’t think I liked it very much but my husband did.
わたしは、グアンチャーレ（ベーコンのようなもの）とチコリと赤ワインのパスタ。さっぱりして、なかなか美味しかったです。
I had spaghetti with guanciale, chicory and red wine. I liked it, it was nice and light and flavourful.
ランチをして落ち着いたところでチェックインを済ませてお部屋に通していただき、荷ほどき。お部屋はかなり狭かったですが、レストランの真上なので景色は素晴らしかったです。狭いけれどきれいなお部屋でしたし、バスルームもきれいでした。
After lunch we checked in properly and were taken to our room and did unpacking. Our room was very small but had the same beautiful view as the restaurant. The room was nicely decorated.
そして、何と言っても、スタッフの方達がとても親切でフレンドリーで、まず最初にタオルミーナの街の説明を詳しくしてくださったり街までの降り方 （ホテルから歩いて３０分くらいのところ）、シャトルバスの時間のことなど説明してくださいましたし、いろいろご相談もしやすい雰囲気でとても良かったで す。
More than anything else, the staff were very kind and friendly. They first gave us a thorough explanation about the town, how to get there, how often their shuttle bus goes etc. They were all so friendly that we felt comfortable to ask for advice and information.
ホテルを決めるのは写真だけで判断するのは難しく、レビューも必ず悪いレビューもある ので難しいのですが、ここはトリップアドバイザーでタオルミーナのホテル第１位で断然評判が良く、特にスタッフの評判が良かったので選びました。安くはな いのでシービューの中のお安いお部屋を選んだのですが、もう少し広いお部屋にすれば良かったかもと思いましたが、ホテルのラウンジでゆっくり出来たので苦 痛なほどではなかったです。
You never know if you will like the hotel until you get there. The photos and reviews you see don’t always represent the hotels well. Besides, you always read some bad reviews and get confused. This hotel is rated as the best hotel in Taormina in TripAdvisor, mainly because their staff are very friendly, and I must say I agree. It’s not cheap so we chose the cheapest room out of the ones with sea view but maybe we should have booked a little bigger room, there was really very little space – but we were able to relax in their lounge so it wasn’t too bad. We liked the hotel very much.
