以前からお友達数人に「図書館デーを作ってください」と言われていました。シンガポールに引っ越してきたときにも写真をアップしましたが、かなりの数のお料理本を持っています。このコンドはマスターベッドルームがとても広く作ってあるのですが寝るだけに使うのはもったいなくて、夫とわたしの書斎というのかワークルームというのか趣味の部屋というのか、そんな部屋に使っていて、本やコンピューターデスク、大きなワークテーブル（カードを作ったりするためのテーブル）を置いて、入り口近くには本棚を向かい合わせと背合わせに３列に並べています。小説などはシンガポールに来る時に思い切ってかなり処分して減らしましたが、お料理の本はなかなか処分出来なくて、２列（少し旅行本などもありますが）ほとんどがお料理の本になっています。日本の本と英語の本と半々くらいでしょうか、日本の本がやや多いくらい。読むだけで楽しくて、実際に作るお料理はマンネリというのがいただけませんが（苦笑）。

Some of my friends have been asking me to set a “Library Day” for them to browse my cookery books, so I invited some of them over.  I have blogged about our books when we moved to Singapore but we have a very large Study (it’s supposed to be the master bedroom but we are using it as a Study) so we have 3 rows of bookshelves near the door – 2 rows facing each other and one row behind the 2nd row.  Most of the first 2 rows have our (my….) cookery books, about half or a little more than a half are Japanese books (not Japanese cooking but in Japanese language) and the other half in English.  We probably have enough to be able to have a mini library.  I just love reading them – but I don’t use them often for actual cooking, I know I should but I keep using the same few books.

今はこの広いお部屋があるのでこうして維持できていますが（でも、実は本棚が足りなくて、ベッドルームにも進出しています）、近い将来イギリスに引っ越したら狭いお家になるのでどうしたものかと。。。

We are able to keep these books now but we’ll probably have to get rid of a lot of them when we move to England in the near future as we will not have so much room there.

というわけで、今日はお友達数人と「図書館デー」でした。みなさんお忙しくてなかなか日程が合わなかったのですが、やっと。それぞれに読みたい本を読んで、買いたい本をメモしたりしながらの２時間ちょっと。

Anyway, it was a Library Day and my friends just enjoyed browsing the books and reading them, taking some memo etc.

 

 

 

 

わたしはと言えば、先日から始めたカード作りグッズの整理をしていました。長い間整理をしていなかったのでだんだんごちゃごちゃが酷くなっていましたし、探したいものを探すのに時間もかかっていたので整理し直しています。始めると時間がかかることがわかっていたのでなかなか取りかかれなかったですしかなり疲れますが、達成感はあります。とは言え、まだ始めたばかりですっきりするまでにはまだまだ時間がかかりそうです。

While they were enjoying our mini library, I worked organising my card making supplies.  It’s been bothering me that they were not properly organised but I’ve been too lazy as I knew it would take hours and hours to organise them properly, but I finally started a few days ago.  It’s hard work but it’s worth it as I feel I’m achieving something.

ちなみに、週末に何時間もかけてカードのベースに使う紙を整理したのですが、何色持っていると思われますか？オーダーして届いていない色もあるのでまだ少し増えますが、今の時点で７０色以上あります。びっくり！

On the weekend, I organised my paper.  I’ve been keeping the paper in the plastic wrapping they come in when you purchase them but they look very untidy and hard to organise so many sheets of different colour paper in one place.  So I decided to put just 5-10 sheets of each colour in a clear file and keep the rest of the pack in another place.  I needed files and files, I didn’t realise I had so many colours.  More than 70 different colours!!  A few more packs are on their way from the US so I’ll have to add some more but it’s mostly done now.

購入した時に入って来るビニールの袋に入れたまま使っていましたが、量が多くて１箇所に収まりきれず作業しにくいので、それぞれの色を５−１０枚ずつくらいファイルに入れて並べ、残りは別に保管することにしたのですが、ファイル１２枚入りを６パック買っても足りませんでした。

 

今日は、スタンプの整理。これもアメリカから取り寄せなくてはならず（シンガポールで探して見ましたがぴったりくるのがありません）、始めるとすごい数なので放置していましたが、やはり見た目が良くなくイライラするので、同じ入れ物に同じ紙をサポートに入れて整理し始めました。前の方が整理したもの、後ろがまだのもの。ここにあるのは手持ちスタンプのごく一部。全部出来るまでしばらくかかりそうですが、やはり同じ入れ物に入っているとすっきりして気持ち良いです。がんばろう〜。

Today, I started organising stamps.  I have to purchase the containers and cases from the US (I looked everywhere here but couldn’t find the right size container) and I need a lot of supply so I’ve been putting it off but I must say it makes me feel much better when they are in the same plastic envelops with the same backing paper. The front half is done and back half isn’t, you can see how different they look.  This is only a small part of my stamps so a lot more to do…
