インド旅行１２日目、ニューデリーのマーケットでスパイスを買って、先生のお宅のリビングで先生が作ってくださったサモサとスナックをいただいて少し休憩して、お料理教室の開始。
India Trip Day 12. After buying some spices in a market in New Delhi, we went to the teacher’s house to start the cooking lesson. First we had samosa and some other snacks she had made, which were both delicious.
可愛いキッチンには材料が既に全部用意されていたので、わたしたちは火を入れるだけ。それでも、ハンズオンのレッスンなので、なかなか写真を撮れずでした。
Everything was cut/sliced/chopped/measured in her cute kitchen so all we had to do was to cook. Even so there was lots to do so I wasn’t able to take a lot of photos.
習ったのは、ナスのカレー、オクラのカレー、ほうれん草とパニエのカレー、バターチキンの野菜バージョン。
We made Aubergine Curry, Okra Curry, Spinach & Paneer Curry & Butter Vegetable Curry (vegetable version of Butter Chicken).
パンは３種類。１つはシンプルなロティー、１つは普通のプラタ、１つはジャガイモを詰めたプラタ。
We also made 3 different Indian breads. One was simple Roti, one was Plain Parantha and one was Stuffed Parantha.
ロティーなどを暖かくキープできるこのお鍋も欲しくなりました。

ナスのカレー。ドライタイプです。
Aubergine curry – dry style, no sauce.
バターチキンの野菜バージョン。
Butter Vegetable Curry (vegetable version of Butter Chicken).
オクラのカレーは炒め物に近い感じ。
Okra curry was almost like stir-fry.
色が変ですが、実物はもっともっとグリーン。ほうれん草とパニエのカレー。
Spinach & Paneer Curry. The colour looks strange, it was much more green in real life.
デザートに、カシューナッツのクッキーのようなものを作っておいてくださいました、銀箔で覆われています。インドのデザートは極甘のものが多いですが、これは甘すぎず美味しかったです。
The teacher had prepared some dessert for us – cashew nut cookie. Many Indian desserts are over-the-top sweet but these weren’t too sweet and very nice.
マーケットで待ち合わせたのが夕方５時でしたので、全部出来上がったのは多分７時半だったかと思います。夕食がわりに作ったものをいただきました。
We met the teacher at 5.00pm at the market so I guess it was about 7.30pm by the time we cooked everything, it was our dinner.
習ったカレーやパンも美味しかったですし、先生も暖かく素敵な方でとても楽しいレッスンでした。デリーでもっと時間があれば、１度だけでなく２度３度とレッスンを受けたかったです。いつかまた、伺えると良いな〜、と思っています。
All the curries and bread were very good and the teacher was such a nice warm person, my husband and I had a great time. If we’d had more time in Delhi, I would have loved to take more lessons. Maybe we’ll fly over and take more lessons sometime in the future.
