Potato, chorizo & Poached Egg

I’ve finally started going through my books to get rid of the ones I’m not going to take before our move. As it’s so hot and sticky here, things like this take a long time because as soon as you start doing things you get sweaty – very frustrating. Books have always been what gave me the most pleasure since I was very little, it has been literally giving me heartache to throw away so many books. At least I can donate English books but nobody takes Japanese books here.

Everybody in Japan says “Get rid of as much stuff as possible”, they keep repeating the shortened word for it and it annoys me to be honest. Why should we get rid of everything that give us so much pleasure? I love being at home, I love having the things that give me so much joy, I don’t see any reason why we cannot have them – as long as there is room for them. I don’t know how much space we have in the house in England but I’m pretty sure we don’t have enough space for all the books we have – so I don’t have a choice but getting rid of many. So sad.

Now, tonight’s dinner. Potato, chorizo & poached eggs. I also add onion and red/yellow pepper. Seasoning is the oil you get from the chorizo plus delicious sweet aged balsamic vinegar. I love the combination of chorizo, potato & soft eggs and they go so well with cold crunchy Romain lettuce. The only thing is that the chorizo I get here isn’t as good as the ones I used to get in Hong Kong (although they are both from Spain), which affects the taste of this dish. I wonder what sort of chorizo I can get in England.
