Probably about a month ago or so, we bought monkey peanuts. I expected them to have been roasted but they weren’t, they are raw though dry – so not very nice as they are. I roasted them in the oven at 170C for about 20 minutes. Once they were done I took them out of the oven and moved them onto a cold tray to let them cool down. They are very sweet and nutty and yummy. The bits of shells fly everywhere, though.
In Japan, you can get fresh raw peanuts, which used to be available only in a small area but are now widely available. We’ve had some of them boiled then marinaded in some kind of sauce, they were delicious. They don’t keep long so there was no way I could buy them and take them to Singapore so that was the only time I had them – the season is autumn to winter, I think. I don’t thin such things are available here?
