今日は急に気温が下がって、最高気温１２度、最低気温３度。午前中は曇っていましたが、午後から青空になりました。でも、風が冷たくて、お茶も家の中でいただきました。

The temperature has gone down by 10C, the highest is was 12C and the lowest is going to be 3C!  As soon as I thought it was like summer, this happens!  I don’t mind it actually, as the sun was still out.  It was cloudy in the morning but sunny in the afternoon. It was too cold, especially with the wind to sit outside though, so we had tea inside today.

冷蔵庫に少し前に買った夫が好きなポークパイ（わたしは苦手）やポークパテがあったのと、チーズも大きな塊を買っていたのがまだたくさん残っているので、今日のランチは Ploughman’s （パブのメニューにある、パンとチーズとハムやピクルスなど盛り付けたもの）にしました。わたしは、セラのハムとトマトとレタス。パンは、冷凍していたフランスパン。それにしても、イギリスのフランスパン、なぜにこんなに美味しくないのか。フランスはすぐそこなのに。。。

We had some pork pie (my husband’s favourite, I dislike it….), pork pate and some large blocks of cheese in the fridge, so we had a Ploughman’s at home for lunch.  I just had Serano ham, tomato & lettuce and cheese.  We used the French bread we froze a few weeks ago.  Why isn’t “French bread” like real French bread in England??  They are quite unpleasant to me…

ロックダウン以来２度目にスーパーでのオンラインオーダーでのお買い物のクリック＆コレクトのスロットが確保でき、今日はそのピックアップの日でした。薄力粉がずっと手に入らなかったのですが、やっとゲット出来ました！強力粉はなかったのと、イタリア産のモッツァレラがなかったのですが、他は全部ありました。少し状況が良くなってきているのか、それともたまたま運が良かったのか。

We managed to secure our 2nd slot for a supermarket “click & collect” a week or so ago and today was the collection day.  We haven’t been able to get all purpose flour, self-raising flour, or cake flour anywhere up to now but we finally go it!  Strong-flour for baking bread wasn’t available, neither was Italian buffalo mozzarella but we got everything else we had listed.  Maybe getting groceries is getting easier?  Or just luck?

ちなみに、オーダーしたものはたくさんの小さなビニール袋に入った状態で係りの方が車まで持ってきてくださいます。それを夫が車のトランクに入れて持ち帰って来てくれるのですが、ここからが結構大変。洗えるものは洗って、洗えないものはアルコール入りのウエットティッシュで拭いてから収納。そうしているのをビデオで見たのでそうしていますが、ここまでする必要があるのかどうなのか。目に見えないだけに、どこまで徹底しなくてはいけないのかがわからないですよね。人によっては外出したら戻って来てすぐに着ているものを着替えて洗ったり、買い物袋もその度に洗う方もおられるようですが、我が家は今の所、そこまでしていません。

Incidentally, the way for collecting the shopping now is that a staff will bring them in many little plastic bags to your car and you take over and put everything in the boot of your car.  When my husband brings them in our kitchen, we wash everything we can and clean the packages with sanitising wipes because I saw someone encouraging us to do so on youtube.  I don’t know if we need to go as far as this, it’s hard to know.  I know some people change their clothes after doing shopping in a supermarket as soon as they get back and even wash the shopping bag (made of cloth) each time.  We haven’t gone that far yet.

そして、除菌用のウェットティッシュやスプレーですが、フランスに行ったとき、ユーロスターのテーブルや肘掛など手が触れるところ、ホテルのトイレやテレビのリモコンやドアの取っ手なども除菌用のウェットティッシュで拭いて安心していましたが、アルコール入りではなかったのです。戻ってから妹にアルコールが入っていないとだめだと指摘されて、ガーーーン。もうフランスから戻ってきて１月経つので大丈夫だったようですが、気をつけていたつもりが何の役にも立っていなかったのかと愕然としました。慌てて調べたところ、日本発信の情報ではアルコールが７０％（でしたっけ）以上入っていないと効果がないとあるのですが、イギリスの情報ではアルコールでない除菌用のスプレーやウェットティッシュでも良いようなことが書かれているのです、どうなんでしょうね。手は石鹸で洗っていますし、アルコール入りのハンドジェルはあるので、手持ちの数少ないアルコール配合のウェットティッシュはここぞという時にだけ使っています。

Also, regarding the sanitising wipes and sprays, I was using the wipes to clean the tables, arm rests etc on Eurostar and toilet seats, door handles, remote control for TV etc when we went to Paris, but after coming back home, my sister pointed out that if the wipes don’t contain alcohol they’re not effective against coronavirus.  I thought “Oh, my God, so I was wiping everything and thought it was safe to touch them but they weren’t?”  It’s been a month since we came back from Paris and fortunately, we have been very well but it frightened me.  I researched online and found out that all the information from Japan says what my sister says, but the information from England doesn’t seem to, so I don’t know what to believe.  I cannot find any sanitising products that contain more than 70% alcohol in England, so I’m using the sanitising tissue containing alcohol that I have so far but I don’t have much left.  I do have hand gel that contains alcohol, we wash hands a lot and we hardly go out but I hope it’ll be available sometime soon.
