久しぶりのガーデン・アップデート。トマトの成長はアップしましたが、トマト以外では１ヶ月ぶりくらい。なぜなら、春から初夏にかけては色々お花が咲きますが、今の時期あまり咲いていないのでアップデートすることがないのです。
It’s been a long time since I did a “garden update” other than tomatoes because there hasn’t been much to update. We had quite a lot of flowers from spring to early summer but at the moment not many flowers are out.
こちらは、新入りのアネモネ。ジャパニーズ・アネモネ、だそうです。土曜日にディナーにいらしたお友達ご夫婦にいただきました。白いアネモネが咲くようです。いくつか蕾が出来ているので、咲くのが楽しみ。アネモネ、大好きなので植えたいと思っていたのです。いくつか他の色も買い足してどこかにまとめて植えたいと思います。
This is our new plant – our friends gave us this “Japanese Anemone” on Saturday when they came to dinner. I love anemones! Hopefully we can add a few more and plant them somewhere in the garden.
そして、昨日見つけたのですが、モックオレンジが咲いています。モックオレンジは５月、６月に咲く香りの良いお花で、もうとっくに終わっていたのですが、なぜかまた咲いています。他にも蕾がたくさん出来ているので、まだ咲くみたい。
Yesterday, I found some mock orange flowers out! They are supposed to be out in May and June and had finished sometime ago, but for some reason they started flowering again. I see quite a lot of buds, too, so I guess there will be more flowers to come.
大きなクレマチスも２つだけですが咲いています。
A couple of large clematises are also out, only one plant so not many.
ティーローズも地味にひっそりと少しだけ咲いています。
Tea roses are also flowering quietly, just one or two at a time.
フューシャももうほぼ終わりかなと思っていたのですが、また少し咲いています。ほとんどがかなり小さなお花なのですが、ときどき少し大きなお花が咲きます。
Fuchsia looked like it was finishing but they seem to be coming out again. Most of them are really small flowers but occasionally some larger flowers come out.

ラズベリーもなってました。食べるほどにはないのですが。
Just a few raspberries, not enough to eat….
ロータスも、大抵１つ、２つ咲いています。
There have always been one or two lotus flowers out, too.
と、そんな感じ。来年の今頃はもっとお花が咲いているように準備できると良いな、と思っています。
That’s about it. Hopefully we can plant some new things so we can see more flowers this time next year.
そうそう、この間数日台風かと思うほど風が強い日があったのですが、家の前のグリーンにある林檎や洋梨がたくさん落ちてしまったようで、ご近所の方が拾ってくだったらしく、ビニール袋に入れてドアのノブにかけておいてありました。まだ熟れていなくて、すごく小さなのもあるので、窓辺でしばらく熟させてから食べてくださいね、とメモが添えられていました。食べられそうになったら、クランブルかワイン煮にしようかと思います。
Oh, these apples and pears are from the green in front of us. We had a few extremely windy days (it was as bad as a typhoon) and obviously most of the apples and pears fell on the ground and I guess some of our neighbours picked them up, put them in a bag and hang on them on the doors of the nearby houses with a note suggesting to put them on the windowsills so they’ll be ripened. When they look ripe enough for cooking, I think we’ll make make a crumble or/and poach them in wine.
