先日お友達ご夫婦にディナーに来ていただきましたが、今日はもう１組お引越し前後にとてもお世話になったご夫婦にランチに来ていただきました。こちらももっと早く来ていただきたかったのですが、やっとお招きすることが出来ました。車で１時間半ちょっとかかるところにお住まいなので、まだゲストルームが使えない状態の今はディナーには来ていただけないためランチタイムに。今はもうお天気が良くてもお庭に座るには寒いので、お庭側のドアを開けた状態でダイニングルームで、この間と同じように出来るだけ離れて座ってお話が出来るようにセッティングをしました。
Following the dinner party with our friends the other day, we invited another couple to a meal at our home. They have been giving us a lot of support before and after our move to the U.K. and we appreciate that very much. This time it was at lunch time because they live about an hour and a half or longer drive away and sadly our guest room is stuffed with our stuff at the moment. Not that the weather changed and it’s too cold to sit in the garden even when the weather is good, so we had lunch in the dining room with the door to the garden opened. Like the last time we set the table so we can be as far away from each other as possible.
このお友達ご夫婦に家に来ていただくのは初めてなので、パーティーメニューで一番作り慣れている中近東料理にしました、夫がアシスタント（笑）。
メニューは我が家で定番の物５品。

もう少しで今回も写真を取り忘れそうになりましたが、ギリギリのところで思い出して撮りました（笑）。
As this is the first time to have these friends to a meal, I decided to cook the Middle-Eastern menu that I’m used to cooking for a gathering; my husband was my assistant.
The menu was my standard Middle-Eastern menu.

デザートは、マークス＆スペンサーズのアプリコットタルトを買って温めただけ、写真は撮り忘れ。
For a dessert we bought Apricot Tart from Marks & Spencer’s and just warmed it up in the oven. I forgot to take a photo, though.
やっとお招きできて、リノベーション後の我が家も見ていただけて良かったです。日本でも香港でもシンガポールでも我が家にたくさんのお友達に来ていただいていましたが、イギリスの家には親しいお友達にもなかなか来ていただけなくて残念でした。お友達に来ていただくと、家の中の空気が変わって更に我が家らしくなるような気がします。
I’m so glad that we were able to invite them back to a meal finally – I’ve been feeling so guilty that we haven’t been able to do so. I’m also happy that they now know what sort of house we live in.
Lots and lots of our friends visited or stayed in our homes in Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore and I felt our home here wasn’t the same without our good friends not having been here. Somehow I feel that our home becomes more “our home” when it’s had our friends in.
