と〜っても長くかかったドレッシングルーム（クロゼット部屋）が、やっと出来ました！ロックダウンが緩和されてすぐかかってもらったと思うので、多分４ヶ月くらいかかっているのではないでしょうか。お１人で作っておられるので時間がかかったのですが、多分、他のお仕事もあるんでしょうね。パーツはお家のワークショップで作って来られ、こちらで微調整をしながら取り付けるという形なのでそれほどずっと騒音があるとか、すごく埃だらけになるということもなかったです。
It’s been taking a long long time but the dressing room is finally finished – or almost finished. I think the guy started working on this quite soon after lockdown was loosened so probably more than 4 months? He is working on his own so it takes time, I know, but I guess he is also working on other projects. He makes all the parts in his workshop and he just makes the last bits of adjustments and installation here, so not so noisy or dusty.
いくつか有名な会社を調べてみたりもしたのですが、どこも結構たくさんトラブルがあるようで、作業が途中で止まっているとか、全然打ち合わせと違うものが出来て直してもらえないとかいうレビューが多すぎて、結局、インテリア・デザイナーさんを通して個人で作業されている方にお願いしました。主寝室の壁のパネリングとクロゼットのドア、リビングルームの壁のパネリングと棚、１階のクロークルームの壁のパネリングをお願いした方。
I did search many companies for bespoke closets but it seemed like all of them have problems and I read so many very negative reviews like the work stopping halfway through and never restarting, or they installed things wrongly, or something totally different from what they agreed on, etc, I just couldn’t find one that I felt we can trust. In the end we asked the guy that our interior designer recommended and he is working on his own. He did all the panelings of the walls in the master bedroom, the living room and the downstairs cloak room as well as the closet doors in the master bedroom and the shelves in the living room.
クロゼットのドアに壁塗りのペイントが飛ぶといけないからということで、ドアはまだ取り付けていない状態です。棚の部分はドアはなくオープンシェルフにしていますが、クロゼットにはドアがつきます。ドアがついたらもっとすっきりするはず。
He told us he would install the doors after the painting of the room is done because he was worried about some bits of paint flying and landing on the doors. He is coming to do the doors on Monday. Once these are installed, the room will look much nicer.
クロゼットの高さや引き出しの高さなど細かく指定が出来るのですが、かといって何が良いかわからないのでほぼお任せしました。ただ、わたしのトップは丈が長いものが多いので、２段にするところも長めにして上の棚部分を狭くしていただいたり、畳んで収納できるバッグがたくさんあるのとマフラーなど冬物は嵩張るので、深い引き出しをいくつか作っていただきました。
We could of course specify the heights of closets and drawers but I didn’t really know what is the best so we left most to him and our designer but I did ask him to maximise the height of the rails, as most of my tops are very long, and also to make some deep drawers so I can store the bags that can be stored flat and some chunky things like winter scarves.
お部屋に入ったドアのところから見ると、こういう状態。
主寝室の窓はお庭側なので誰かに見られる心配はないのですが、右側の窓は公共部分に面していますし奥の窓はお隣のお家の２階から見えるので、ブラインドを２重にして今のものの向こう側に光は通すけれど外から見えなくするためのブラインドをオーダーしています。

The window in our bedroom faces the back garden so I don’t need to worry about someone seeing us but the window on the right in this room is facing the public area and the other window is directly facing the next door’s house, so we have ordered blinds that will be installed behind the current ones, the type that will let the light come through but stop people seeing inside from outside.

左側から。椅子はとりあえず余っているダイニングチェアーを置いていますが、オーダーする予定です。
From the leftside of the door. We have this dining chair (with the new cover) now for the dressing table but we will get a different one specially for the dresser.

右手前の下のセーターなどを置いている部分は、取り出しやすいように引き出せるように作っていただきました。スカーフ用にもっと浅い引き出しも作っていただけば良かったな、と思っています。そして、クロゼットはもっと奥行きを深くしてもらえば良かったかな。幅広のハンガーはギリギリ入るくらいなので。
The shelf that has jumpers on the right closet can be pulled out – I asked him to make it that way so it’s easy to take things in and out. I wish I also asked a very shallow drawer for scarves etc and also I wish I asked him to make the closets a little deeper, the wider hangers are quite wide and they are just fitting.
引っ越して来て数ヶ月はゲストルームで寝起きしていたので、わたしの着るものはゲストルームのクロゼットと主寝室のクロゼット、そして箱に入れたままストレージにしているお部屋と３箇所にばらばら入れていたのですが、それが全部１箇所にまとまって気持ちもすっきりしました。
ドレッサー用の椅子とオットマンを買う予定なのと、真ん中にラグを置こうかと思っています。
ドアがついたら、またアップデートします。
As we were using the guest’s room for a few months after we moved here, some of my clothes were in the guest’s room’s closet, some in the master bedroom’s closet and some in boxes in the storage room until now. I’m happy that they are all in one place now, it makes you feel so much better and organised.
We still need to get a chair for the dressing table and an ottoman to put under the window, and also maybe a rug for the middle of the room.
I’ll update once the doors are installed.
