去年は１１月はとても寒かった記憶なのですが今年は（途中何日か寒い日もありましたが）いつまでも暖かいなぁ、と思っていましたが、ようやく急に寒くなりました。日本も似たような感じですね。でも、まだ最高気温は１５度くらいあるようなので、この間までのイギリス並みでしょうか。こちらは、最高気温も１０度以下になっています。日本の最低気温がこちらの最高気温、くらい。
I think it was very cold in November last year, but so far it had been quite mild this year (although we did have some cold days earlier). It has gone colder yesterday, though. It looks like it had been mild in Japan as well and had gone cold in the last couple of days – still not as cold there since the highest temperature still goes up to 15C, whereas here it’s lower than 10C.
今日はお昼頃、床材などを扱うお店でインテリア・デザイナーさんと待ち合わせてクラフトルームの床を選んで来ました。以前、寝室のバスルームの床材を選んだ時も、リビングルームのソファーを選んだ時も、最初に「これ、良さそう」と選んだものに決まりました。チョイスはキリがないほどいろいろあるのですが、結局最初に目に止まったものに決めることが多い気がします。そのあと、夫とふたりで相談して決めたクラフトルームのデザイン（造り付けの家具やライトの位置など）を見ていただいて全体のイメージなども確認して、デザイナーさんが提案されるつもりだったアイデアとわたしたちのアイデアがほぼ一緒で一安心。
This afternoon, we met our interior designer at a floor material shop to choose the flooring for my craft room. Like when we chose the ensuite bathroom floor and wall and the sofa in the living room, we ended up deciding on the one that we liked almost as soon as we walked in the shop. There are countless choices but I feel I often decide on the one I liked first. After that, we talked to her about the room’s design and some details that my husband and I came up with, like layout of bespoke furniture, positions of lights etc and we are very happy that her suggestions were very much in line with what we came up with.
ふと、去年の今日は何をしていたかなと自分ののブログを見てみたところ、ちょうど去年の今日、この家でインテリア・デザイナーさんと初めての打ち合わせをしていました。どんな方かもわからないのでお目にかかるまでとても不安だったことを思い出します。今はすっかりお友達に近い感覚。去年の今頃は、まだシンガポールからの荷物が着いていなかったのでこの家には住んでいなくて、ニューフォレストにあるお友達のコテージをお借りしていたときで、毎日のように片道２時間近く車で行き来していたのも思い出します。そして、今日は床材を選んだあと、久しぶりに Arundel （住んでいる村からは一番近い小さな街で、車で５分くらい）にのお気に入りの Pallant of Arundel という食材店でクリスマス用のあれこれを買ってきたのですが、去年の今日も同じ日に Arundel に寄っていました。偶然すぎてびっくり。お家の壁に張り付いたクリスマスツリーもありました。やっぱり、素敵！去年はたくさん写真をとってアップしたので、興味がある方は見てみてくださいね。
Like I do often recently, I read my own blog for this day one year ago wondering what we were doing and found out that we had a meeting with this interior designer in our house for the first time. I remember we were a little anxious to find out her personality and her taste (if they would match with ours) until we met her, but now we are more like friends. The shipment of our stuff from Singapore hadn’t arrived yet so we were staying at the cottage our friends let us rent in the New Forest and were driving up and down almost every day, up to 2 hours one way. Today, after choosing the floor material, we went to Arundel to get some Christmas treats at Pallants of Arundel but then I found out that we had visited the same shop on the exact same date last year also – such a coincidence! They have those cute Xmas trees put up on the walls of the houses in Arundel that I photographed last year, we love them. I posted a lot more photos last year if you’d like to see them.
YouTube（イギリスの方達）を見ていると、今年は特に早くクリスマスツリーを出してお家の飾り付けをされている方が多いような気がします。コロナの関係で３月以来旅行も出来ずお出かけもほとんど出来ず、ほとんどの方が早く元の生活に少しでも近い生活が戻ることをここ、何か楽しいことをしたい気持ちが強かったり、時間もいつもよりあるからだと想像します。夫は早くからクリスマスの飾り付けをするのを嫌がるので我が家はまだ何も出していないのですが、ネットでツリーの飾りを買ったりはしています。でも、外に出ていないのでクリスマスの飾りを見かけることがないので、まだまだクリスマス気分ではないのですが、今日、久しぶりに Arundel （住んでいる村からは一番近い小さな街で、車で５分くらい）に行って、お気に入りの食材店でクリスマスの食べ物などを買ってきました。やはり、出かけてクリスマスのデコレーションがされた街並みを見たり、クリスマスらしい食材店の中を歩いたりすると少し気分が出てきました。
On Youtube videos of English vloggers, I see that they have their trees up and Christmas decorations in their houses earlier than usual. I feel it’s because we have been in lockdown for such a long time (if not complete lockdown there have been some restrictions for the whole time) since March, we haven’t been able to travel or go out to do some fun things very much and we all want to do something fun, we also have more time than usual because we aren’t going out much. My husband doesn’t like putting Christmas decorations up very early so we haven’t done that, but I did start buying some new Christmas decorations etc on line. However, as we are hardly out we haven’t had much opportunities to see Christmas decorations so we haven’t really been feeling Christmassy. Seeing Arundel decorated with the trees etc and Christmassy sweets in the shop, we did start to feel a little Christmassy.
手右側の小さなグリーンの箱はクリスマスの香りのルームスプレー、小さな赤いものはツリーの飾りですが、他は先ほど食材店で買って来たパンドーロやパネトーネやストーレンなどクリスマスの時期にいただく甘いものあれこれ。
The small green box is a Christmas room spray and the little red things are some new glass tree baubles, but the rest is what we bought today at Pallants of Arundel – some Christmas treats like Pandoro, Panettone, Stollen etc.
