少し前はすごく寒かったですが、この数日は寒さが緩んで最高気温が１２度くらいあります。でも、また明日はマイナスまで下がるらしく、結構暖かい時と寒い時の差があって、くるくる変わっている気がします。昨日天気予報を見たら土曜日は雪のマークが出ていたのですが、先ほど見たら雨に変わっていました（涙）。

It was very cold for a while, but got warmer a few days ago and the temperature was up to 12C or so during the day.  However, it’ll get cold again tomorrow.  It seems to go up and down quite drastically during the winter.  When I looked at the weather forecast yesterday, it had a snow mark for this area for tomorrow, but sadly it’s changed to a rain mark now.

３度目のロックダウンが始まって５週間。丁度その数日前に美容院に行ったのですが、４週間半経って、誰に会うわけではないのですが、自分で鏡を見るだけでも嫌なくらい根元が目立ったので今朝目立つ部分だけ染めました。面倒ですし不器用なので伸ばし伸ばしにしていましたが、初回だった前回に比べるとスムーズに早く出来てやれやれ。まだ、しばらくロックダウンが続きそうなので、もう１度か２度、自分で染めなくてはいけないでしょうね。

This 3rd lockdown started 5 weeks ago.  I had my hair coloured in a hairdresser just before that, so it’s been 4 and a half weeks.  We aren’t seeing anyone but I hate seeing myself with roots showing, but also I hate doing it myself – so I’ve been putting it off, but I finally coloured them (just the part you can see) this morning because it was looking so bad.  It was much easier and quicker than the last time as I prepared better.  I guess I’ll have to do this once or twice more as it doesn’t look like the lockdown will be loosened very soon.

ロックダウンから５週間経って新しく感染する人数は少し減ってきてはいるものの、思っていたほど減らず、死者数もそろそろ減っても良さそうなのにあまり減っていないようで、今回はなかなか効果が見られません。それだけ新しく変化したウイルスの感染力が強いということでしょうか。

Although the number of new people infected is going down, not as quickly as we would have liked and the number of deaths is still very high, the lockdown isn’t as effective this time as the last 2 times, I guess because the new variant is spreading faster.

徐々に日が長くなってきています。そろそろ、スノードロップが咲き始めると思います。去年は２月中旬にスノードロップがたくさん咲いているところに見に行きました、圧巻でした。残念ながら、今年はロックダウンのためオープンされないそうです。あんなに素晴らしい景色、誰にも見られないのが残念。

The days are getting longer slowly and I’m expecting to see snow drops soon here and there.  Last year, we went out to see carpets of snowdrops in the middle of February and it was beautiful, but the gardens aren’t opening to the public this year due to the lockdown.  It seems such a shame that such beautiful scenery will not be enjoyed by many people.

さて、今日のディナーは、チーズフォンデューにしました。クリスマスイブ以来なので、１ヶ月ぶり。チーズフォンデューも我が家では良く登場します。いつものように、生ハムやサラミ、茹でた新じゃがと人参、たっぷりのサラダと一緒にいただきました。フォンデューはキットのものでも十分美味しいのですが、ここではなかなか見つからないのでエメンタールチーズ、グリエールチーズ、白ワイン、コーンスターチで作っています。サラダには、トマト、玉ねぎ、セロリ、りんご、赤パプリカ、ロケット、ロメインレタスを入れました。すごい量になったので絶対食べ切れないと思っていましたが、なんとか完食しました。

Today’s dinner was Cheese Fondue, which we have quite often.  The last time when we had it was on Christmas Eve, once a month is probably about average.  As always we had it with Parma Ham, salami, boiled new potatoes & carrots and a huge salad.  I find ready made cheese fondue, which comes in a pack, quite good but we haven’t been able to find it easily here so we use Emmental cheese, Gruyere cheese, white wine, Kirsch and corn starch.  We used tomato, onion, celery, apple, red pepper, rocket & romain lettuce in the salad.  Somehow it got to be a huge amount and we didn’t think we’d be able to finish it but somehow we did.
