久しぶりのガーデン・アップデート。冬の間はほとんど変化がないですし、雨が多くて芝生もいつもじくじくしていてお庭に出る気もしないのでアップデートもありませんが、そろそろ変化が出てくる時期です。

It’s been a long time since I did garden update.  During the winter I don’t go out in the garden because there isn’t much change and the lawn is almost always very wet.

少し前から遠くからでも見えていた、ヒヤシンス。確か、去年も早い時期に１株だけ咲いていたパープルのヒヤシンスだと思いますが、お花が咲いていました！

I could see this hyacinth from inside the house, I think it’s the one that came out first last year so not the ones my husband planted, but they are out.

去年お友達にいただいた水仙、お花が咲かずに蕾のまま枯れてしまったのですが、鉢を外に出していたら（お水もあげず）いつも間にか芽が出て大きくなっていました。

Our friends gave us this pot and narcissus.  They looked they were going to flower but didn’t and just died in buds, so I put the pot outside and forgot about it, but I just found long shoots of them.

こちらは、以前の住人の方が残していかれた長方形のコンテナーに夫が植えたお花ですが、多分水仙だと思います。

I’m guessing these are narcissus that my husband planted in a rectangular flower container that the previous owner of the house left.

芝生の向こうの芝がない部分に夫が植えてくれた球根も芽を出しています。これは、ヒヤシンスっぽいですよね。

There are many shoots coming out in the area beyond the lawn near the trees, too – I think these are hyacinth?

こちらは水仙だと思います。

And these look like narcissus.

スノードロップもたくさん植えてくれたのですが、見当たりません。もう、いろいろなところでたくさん咲いているので、植えてくれたのは芽が出ないのかな、残念。

My husband planted a lot of snowdrops as well, but I cannot find any coming out.  We saw a lot along the roadsides when we went out the other day in the car, so I’m guessing outs aren’t coming out.

以前書いたかどうか覚えていないのですが、秋にガーデンデザーナーの方に来ていただいてデザインの見積もりをしていただき、春に作業スタートという予定でした。以来何のご連絡もないかったので、先週、もう春も近いので夫にプッシュして欲しいと頼んでコンタクトしてみたところ、「来週ご連絡します」とお返事があり、今日来たお返事は、「コロナのこともあり、個人的な事情も含め諸事情により他のプロジェクトが遅れていて、そちらのお庭については早くても６月か７月まで手がつけられません。」とのこと。なら、なぜ、こちらから連絡する前に何か言って来ないのでしょうか？とっくに、春の施行に間に合わないことはわかっていたはずですよね。それに、秋には既にコロナの影響は十分あったのですから、ある程度予想がついたのでは。それなら、あの時点で他の方を探していました。

I cannot remember if I ever mentioned it but we asked a garden designer to make a design for our garden in autumn and she came and looked and was keen to take up the job.  She sent us a quote and we agreed and she was supposed to present the design so we can start the actual work in spring.  As the spring isn’t far, I’ve been asking my husband to contact her and ask if she has the design and to get the people who can do the actual work so we don’t have to put off the work again.  He contacted her and received a reply saying, “I’m having a drama at the moment, I’ll reply next week.”  He got her reply today telling us that basically she has other projects delayed and she won’t be able to work on ours until June/July earliest.  That means the actual work will not start until probably autumn.  She must’ve known that this was the case quite a while ago, why didn’t she contact us earlier to update the situation?  That is very unprofessional!  We could have started looking for someone else then.

正直、見積もりのためにいらしたとき、それほど好印象ではなかったので、これはこれで結果的に良かったと思いたいと思いますが、また、今からどなたか探して依頼していたら、夏に間に合わないかもしれませんね。やれ、やれ。。。（涙）。

To be very honest, I didn’t have a very good feeling with her so I would like to think this is a good thing, but I wish she’d told us earlier.  Now we’ll have to look for someone else.  Everyone seems to be busy at the moment, so I’m guessing we’ll have a long wait before anything will be done to our garden now.  Boooooo!
