ちょっと久しぶりの、ガーデン・アップデート。
Garden update, I haven’t done this for a little while.
フロントガーデンは水仙だらけですが、これは１週間ほど前の写真で、今は少し枯れてきています。バーベナやデルフィニュームの背がずいぶん高くなってきて、キャットミント、ジェラニュームもだいぶん葉っぱがふさふさして来ました。
A lot of narcisus in the front garden, these photos were taken about a week ago and some are fading now. Verbena and delphiniums are getting taller, catmint and geranium are getting fuller.
西側の壁の藤もツルがずいぶん伸びて、蕾もちらほら。
On the west side, wisteria is growing nicely and it has some buds now.
トレリスとどうかして見にくいのですが、ほぼ上まで伸びています。
It’s hard to see as it’s the same colour as the trellis but it’s nearly as tall as the trellis now.
クレマチスは去年はほんの少ししか背も伸びずお花も少なかったのですが、今年はもう結構お花をつけました。写真にはありませんが、薔薇も元気に育っていますし、ライラックも背は低いですが蕾をつけています。
Clematis is growing well, too, this year. Last year it didn’t seem to be doing much and they had only a few flowers but this year they already have many flowers. No photo (you do see them on both sides of the main door in some photos) but roses are doing well as well although no flowers yet. Also lilac has buds.

Back garden.
１週間ほど前に撮った写真ですが、アメランキアという木にお花が咲いていました、今はほとんど散ってしまっています。
These two photos were taken about a week ago but amelanchier had lots of blossoms although most of the blossoms are gone now.
チューリップの球根が余ってしまったのでリビングルームの外にプランターを置いて植えてみたのですが、ここはほとんど陽が当たらないのでだめかなと思っていたら案外綺麗に咲いてくれました。
We planted tulip bulbs in late autumn (because I bought too many) in these grey planters and put them outside our living room thinking they may not come out because this position doesn’t get much sun, but they are looking beautiful now.
離れたパティオに置いた大きなポットにも水仙とチューリップを層にして植えたのですが、水仙が一杯でチューリップは見えません。水仙はお庭全体にたくさん咲いているので、来年はチューリップだけ植えようかと思います。
We did ‘lasagne planting’ in the two large pots on the far patio – narcissuses and tulips – but you cannot see the tulips well because of the narcissuses. As we have plenty of narcissuses in the flower beds, I think we’ll plant just tulips next time.
バックガーデンにちょこちょこと咲いているチューリップはリノベーション前に夫が植えてくれたもので、残さないつもりが残ってしまったというもので、変なところに少しだけ咲いているので、毎年どうしたものか、抜いた方が良いんだろうけどと思いながらなかなか抜けないまま。
The tulips we have in the flower beds were planted by my husband before renovation and they were supposed to have been removed but not all of them were – so you find odd ones here and there in strange places. They look very odd but we haven’t had the heart to remove them so far.
ピンクと白のチューリップは日が経つにつれてピンクの部分が広がって行きます、この写真は少し前に撮ったのでその下の写真より白が多いです。
These pink and white tulips are very pretty, as the days go by the pink spreads, this photo was taken a little while ago and you can see from the photo below it that there are more pink parts.
モックオレンジが咲いてきていて、近くに行くと良い香りです。モックオレンジの前には、サルビアの葉っぱが茂ってきています。
Mock orange has started to bloom and the blossoms are very fragrant. In front of the mock orange the salvia is getting fuller.

Anemones – I wrote about them the other day.
２箇所に３つずつピオニーを植えていて、去年は全部は芽を出さなかったと思うのですが、今年は出して結構育っています。最初の写真のはわたしたちが植えたのではなく引っ越してくる前から植えられていて、これもリノベーションの時に処分されるはずだったもの。
We had two groups of 3 peonies planted last year , but I think only 4 or 5 of them came out last year. this year they all came out. The first photo shows peonies that were already in the garden when we moved in which were supposed to have been removed.
藤も結構良く育っているようですし、お花も咲いてきています。でも、お花は小さいのであまり目立たない。
Wisteria in the back garden is also doing well and we can see some flowers opening already although they are small and not very noticable.
アリウムの蕾がたくさん！でも、まだ咲いていません。
A lot of buds of alliums! None opened yet.
去年のブログを読むと５月３日には藤の花は満開を過ぎていましたし、アリウムも結構咲き始めていました。今年はまだまだ寒いのでもう少し遅くなると思いますが、アリウムが満開の時は綺麗なので楽しみです。
From my blog of last year, I found out that the wisteria flowers were past the peak by the 3rd May and many alliums had already started to open up, but I’m guessing it’ll be later this year as it’s still quite cold. The back garden looks beautiful when the alliums are at their peak, so we are very looking forward to seeing them.
