今日は、まぁまぁ良いお天気。ついこの間まで来週は良いお天気が続く予報だったのに、昨日ガラッと変わって雨マークだらけになってしまいました。また、良い方に変わってほしい。
The weather was OK today, sometimes cloudy, sometimes sunny. The weather forecast showed many sun marks for next week until just a couple of days ago but it changed to mostly rain marks yesterday, what a bummer. I hope it’ll change again for the better.
今日はスーパーにお買い物に行きました。ちょっと遠いウェイトローズ。セインズベリーとマークス＆スペンサーズより行きにくい場所にあるので、久しぶりでした。たまに行くところは、普段見ないものが売られていて楽しい。バーベキュー用のマリネしたお肉などを買って来ました。明日もそこそこお天気が良さそうなので、バーベキューの予定です。それにしても、スーパーの中が寒くて寒くて。半袖のTシャツの上にデニムジャケットを着ていましたが、震えました。
We went to a supermarket today, Waitrose, which is a bit of a pain for us to get to comparing to Sainsbury’s and M&S so we don’t go often. It’s more fun to walk around a supermarket if it’s not our usual go-to one and we saw some interesting looking prepared meats for BBQ so we bought some. At the moment, it’s forecasted to be good weather during the day tomorrow so hopefully we’ll do a BBQ tomorrow evening. It was so cold inside the Waitrose, I was wearing a denim jacket, jeans and a short-sleeve T shirt and I felt frozen!
で、今日は外食。刺繍の集まりのメンバーの方がしばらく前に、「Rustington に Fig. っていう昼間はカフェで木、金、土曜日の夜だけタパスを出すお店があってすごく美味しいし、カフェのランチも美味しいわよ。」とおっしゃっていたのでずっと気になっていたのですが、オンラインで予約を入れられずお電話をしなくてはいけないのでなかなか予約を入れるに至らず、やっと予約を入れました。幸い、少し遅い時間ですが、今日入れて今日予約が取れました。１週間のうち木、金、土だけで大きなお店ではないのですぐに予約で埋まってしまう、と聞いています。今は夏休みで休暇に出ている人が多いと思いますし、子供連れで行くメニューではなさそうなので取れたのかなと思います。
Today, we went out for dinner. One of the members of my embroidery group mentioned that a cafe/tapas restaurant called Fig. in Rustington serves excellent tapas in the evenings on Thursday, Friday & Saturday. They are cafe during the day and their cafe food is also very good, so I’ve been wanting to try the place but they don’t accept online bookings and you have to phone them to make a booking so we hadn’t managed to do so. This afternoon my husband phoned them and got a table for this evening, a bit later than we wanted but we cannot complain. We were told you need to book in advance because it’s a small place and they serve tapas only 3 evenings a week. As it’s now school summer holidays, perhaps many people are away and it’s not the sort of a place you go with children so we were able to get a table on the day.
飲み物は、サングリアにしました。飲みやすく美味しかったですが、氷がたくさん入っているので中身は半分くらいかな。夫はもう１杯オーダーしました。
We ordered Sangria to drink. It was nice and light and easy to drink, half of it was ice. My husband had one more.
ローストアーモンド。少しチリパウダーが入ったお砂糖がかかっていました。
Roasted almond with chilli powder and sugar.
左はカリフラワーのロメスコソース。左は、これまでタパス料理のメニューにみたことがないものだったのでオーダーしてみました、茄子をカリカリに揚げてお塩、蜂蜜、胡桃を砕いたものをかけたもの。本当にカリカリ。夫は、これが一番美味しかったそうです。
The left one is cauliflower with Romesco sauce. The right one is deep-fried aubergine sprinkled with salt, a little honey and crushed walnut – we’d never seen this on tapas menus before so we were curious and ordered it. it was very crispy and not greasy, my husband thought this dish was the best.
パタタス・ブラバス・アイオリつき（ポテト）、夫が大好きなタパスの１品。アイオリ（ガーリックマヨ）がのっているのとないのとありますが、のっている方がわたしは好き。
Patatas Bravas with Aioli. My husband’s favourite tapas dish. I like it with aioli more than without.
スパイシー・チキンウィング（メニューではそうですが、実際はドラムスティックでした）。夫もわたしも骨付きのお肉はあまり好きではないので滅多に頼まないいのですが、レビューに「どれも美味しかったけれど、チキンウィングは私たちにはすごく辛かった」とあって興味が湧きオーダーしてみました。それほど辛くはなかったです。もう少しソースがかかっていると良かったかな。
Spicy chicken wings (although these were drum sticks rather than chicken wings). We aren’t very keen on any meat with bones so we seldom order something like this but was curious what these were like because I read a review saying what they ordered were all good although the chicken wings were very spicy for them. Well, they were not that spicy for me. I think I would have enjoyed them more if they were coated with more sauce.
デザートはチュロス。カラッと上がっていてもっちりしていて、とても美味しかったです。これまで食べたチュロスの中で一番美味しかった、シンガポールではびっくりするくらい油っこくて美味しくないのを数カ所で食べましたっけ。
Churros for dessert. They were crispy outside and a little chewy inside, excellent, the best churros we’ve had. We’ve had a lot of bad ones in Singapore.
お会計は、チップを入れて７０ポンド（１２７００円ほど）、イギリスのレストランとしてはリーズナブル。お店はとても小さくてとてもカジュアル、内装は新しくてきれいですが凝った内装ではなくカフェと言う感じです。ずらっとお店が並んでいるところの１件で外の景色は駐車場なので、雰囲気を楽しみに行くところではないですが、食事は美味しかったです。
It was £70 including tip so reasonable, I think, in England. The restaurant is quite small and very casual, the interior looked newly done but it is just a cafe. The view is a car park and it’s not where you go to enjoy the ambience, but the food was good.
次回は、ランチタイムのカフェのときに伺ってみたいと思います。
I’d like to go there at lunch time next time.
