今日はバゲットを買いに行った「La Patisserie」でガレット・デ・ロアを買って来ました。

We bought Gallette Des Rois at La patisserie when we went there to get bagette.

 

 

 

 

日本でガレット・デ・ロアがどれほど知られているかわからないのですが、シンガポールでは日本の方もよく買われていたので結構知られているのではないかと思います。中にはフェーブと呼ばれる小さな陶器製のチャームが入っていて、それが出てきたらその人はその年はラッキーなのだそう。切っているときにカチンとナイフが当たってしまったり、切り口から見えてしまったり、ということもあるのでそうなりませんようにと願いながら切りました。上手く切れて、やれやれ！そして、一口目を切ったところで既に当たり！でした。今年は、わたしがラッキーらしいです！

I don’t know how much Galette des Rois is known in Japan but many Japanese in Singapore were buying them so I’m guessing it’s known enough.  There is a little ceramic charm called a “Feve” inside and the person who gets it in her/his piece is lucky this year.  Sometimes the knife will touch the feve when you are cutting it or you can see one from the cut surface so, which is disappointing, so I was hoping it didn’t happen and it didn’t.  Then when I was cutting a piece with my little knife I could feel there was something – and it was.  I’m the lucky one this year!

ただ、このフェーブ、何なのかわかりません。最初、ケーキの型？それとも、お花？と思ったのですが。。。

However, we couldn’t figure out what the feve was.  I thought maybe it’s a cake mold.

 

 

なんと、顔がついていました。でも、まだ何かわかりません（笑）。

Then I found it’s a face – but I still don’t know what face…
