今日は、本当に良いお天気で青空が広がっています。数日続けてお天気が良いのは、久しぶりかも。今日は、１０時半ごろに家を出て近くの海がある小さな街、Felpham (我が家から車で２０分くらい）まで出て、ビーチ沿いを歩きました。夫はシンガポールではずっと走っていてイギリスに来てもしばらくは走っていたのですが、住んでいるところは歩道がなくて危ないのでこの Felpham まで車で行ってビーチ沿いや住宅地を走っていて馴染みがあるところだったようです。
It’s been a very beautiful day today, I think it’s not often we have good weather for more than a couple of days in a row. We left home around 10:30 and went to a little seaside town called Felpham (about 20 minutes by car from us) and walked a little along the beach. My husband used to run in Singapore and he tried to continue it in England but there aren’t many pavements around here so he would drive to Felpham and run along the beach or in the housing area. (He stopped running after a little while).
今日はお天気が良かったので、ビーチにあるシーフードのレストランの外席にもたくさんの人が座っておられました。ただ、ビーチと言ってもアジア人が思い描く砂浜ではなくてゴロゴロと石が転がっているビーチですし、海は今日のように良いお天気でもそれほどきれいなブルーにもならないのですごく綺麗というわけではないのですが、イギリス人の多くは本当にビーチを歩くのが好きなので（冬の寒い中でも）、イギリス人の日常の一部をお友達が経験されるのも良いかなと思ってお連れしてみました。今日は気温は１５度くらいでそれほど寒くはなくお天気も良かったので、風があっても暖かい格好をしていれば耳が痛くなることはなく、まずまず心地よくお散歩が出来ましたが、真冬にビーチを歩くと耳が痛くなるのでわたしは行きたくない派ですし、夏もとくにイギリスのビーチには魅力を感じませんが、イギリス人はビーチを歩くのが大好きな人が多いです。
The outdoor tables of a seafood restaurant at the beach were occupied by many people with this good weather.The beach isn’t what we Japanese or Asian people would imagine when we hear a beach, it’s not a sandy beach, it’s all stones. The sea looks mostly grey and even where the sun hits it’s kind of green, not beautiful blue as we think, so it’s not as if we took our friend to show ‘a beautiful beach’, we just thought it may be interesting to see a beach in England because the majority of English people love visiting the seaside and walking along a beach whatever the weather, even on a cold and wet winter day. It was about 15C so it wasn’t cold and was comfortable enough to walk along the beach since we were dressed warm and the wind wasn’t too cold to give us ear ache. I really hate going to a beach in winter because I get ear ache, which is very uncomfortable. I don’t get attracted to beaches in England even in the summer.
ビーチハウスを使っておられる方がおられました。以前、ブライトンのビーチハウスをブログにアップしたことがあり、その時に少しビーチハウスについて書きましたが、カラフルで可愛らしい。でも、ブライトンのビーチハウスの方が色々な色で塗られていて、可愛い。
2 people were using their beach hut. I’ve written about beach huts of Brighton before, and they do look very cute. I think those in Brighton look more interesting and pretty, though, because they are painted in all sorts of different colours.
