旅行から戻ったばかりですが、周りに結構もうブルーベルが咲いているので早く見に行かないと逃してしまうかも、ということで、急遽、昨日、行くことにしました。朝はとても曇っていましたし今日は土曜日なので混むでしょうし、明日からしばらく良いお天気の予報なので明日以降に行きたいところでしたが、水曜日までは何かと予定が入っていて行けないので。

We\ve just come back from holiday but we went out yesterday to see bluebells as we see quite a lot of them around us.  It was very cloudy in the morning and the weather was going to be better from today but we have things on until Wednesday and didn’t want to wait too long in case we miss the peak.

朝１１時頃に家を出て、ブルーベルの森のすぐ近くの「Yew Tree Inn」というパブでランチをしました。家を出る時は曇っていてお天気が残念だなと思っていたのですが、ランチをする頃にはだいぶん雲がなくなって太陽が出ていて良いお天気になったので、お庭でランチをいただきました。

We left around 11:00am yesterday and drove to “Arlington Bluebell Walk”, with a stop for lunch at the “Yew Tree Inn” near there.  Although it was very cloudy in the morning and the forecast showed it’ll improve in the evening, but the sun came out around lunch time so we had lunch in the garden of the pub.

My husband had a cheddar Ploughman’s.

 

わたしは、チキンとベーコンとアボカドのサラダ。ですが、やはりパブでのチキンはリスクが大きい、焼きすぎて硬くて筋っぽくて臭みもあって食べられず、チキンだけ残して他をいただきました。チキンなしだとお腹に溜まるものがなくて物足りなすぎて、夫に少しパンも分けてもらいました。

I had the Chicken, Bacon & Avocado Salad.  I thought it is a bit risky to order chicken but didn’t find anything else I fancied.  The chicken was very overcooked, hard and stringy and a little smelly, too, so I wasn’t able to eat it.  I had everything else leaving all the chicken and my husband let me have a little of his bread.

 

 

イギリス人のお友達や家族でチキンの胸肉をこんなにカチカチに不味く焼く人は知りません。パブでお料理する方達、なぜか一般家庭の人よりお料理が出来ないのは、なぜ？イギリスは美味しくなったと耳にしますが、それはロンドンのお話しです。でも、チキン以外が美味しかったのは幸いでしたし、お天気が良くてお庭での食事が気持ち良かったのも幸いでした。ちなみに、スタッフがお皿を下げに来た時にチキンが全部残っていても、スタッフは何も聞きませんでした。美味しくなかったからというのはわかってますよね。だって、チキンとベーコンとアボカドのサラダをオーダーして、チキンは一口しか食べてないんですから。

None of my friends or families in England overcook chicken so much and make it so tough.  I don’t understand why people who cook in pubs cannot do this sort of thing properly.  I hear “Food in England is great now.”  That might be true in London but not outside.  Still at least the other things in the salad were good.  Also the weather was so nice and it was lovely to sit in the garden.  When a staff came to get the plates, it was obvious that I left all the chicken but she didn’t ask anything.  She must’ve know something wasn’t right that I left all the chicken when I had ordered “Chicken, bacon & avocado salad”.
