今日は、久しぶりにまとまった雨が降りました。そして、風も「暴風」と言えるほどで外出はしたくないお天気でした。そんな中、今日から新しいガーデナーさんが来られています。しばらくは毎週火曜日に来ていただく予定。この何年かは、ここの「クロース」の共用部分の芝生などのお手入れに来ていただいているガーデナーさんがおられるのでその方に個人的なガーデニングもお願いしていたのですが、それはそれはよく休むし連絡さえ来ない、そして、マルチングを頼むと植物の根本まで埋めてしまうので背が低いクリスマスローズの葉っぱなども全部埋めてしまったり、ガーデニングの知識はあるのかと疑ってしまうようなことがたくさんありました。ということで、ご近所にお住まいのガーデナーさんが見つかったのでお願いしてみることにしました。そんな暴風雨なので今日は作業はされないかもね、と夫と言っていたのですが、来られました。先日までのガーデナーさんは雨がちょっとでも降ると来ない。イギリスで雨の中作業しないってどうなの？と夫と言っていたのですが、流石に今日は雨が強かったですし（来られたときには弱まっていましたが）風も凄いので作業しにくかったのではと思いますが、予定通り３時間作業をされ、薔薇をトレリスにとめたり、キャットミントを剪定したり、必要なところにサポートをつけたりしてくださいました。今のところ、好印象。今度のガーデナーさんは信頼できる人だと良いなと期待しています。

It rained quite a lot today (we hadn’t had a lot of rain recently so it was good for the garden) and it was also extremely windy, so a kind of a day you want to stay home.  However, it was the first day for our new gardener.  He will be doing a few hours’ gardening every Tuesday for a while, then he will come less frequently.  For the last few years we have been asking the gardener who looks after the communal part to do a regular gardening for our garden as well, but we haven’t been happy with him.  He often just didn’t turn up without letting us know, or he would cover the base of plants as well as low leaves like the stems with leaves of Christmas roses buried and ruin them, there were many other things that made me doubt if he has much knowledge on gardening so we thought we’d try a different gardener.  We found someone, who lives very near us so we asked him to come regularly.  As I say the weather has been awful today so we thought he may not come today, but he did. The other gardener would cancel it even with a little rain and I always thought that was feeble when it rains so often here.  However it was not just raining today but was very windy so I think it must’ve been a hard work to do the gardening today but he worked for 3 hours tidying up here and there, training roses, cutting back cat mint etc.  So far we’ve been having a good impression of him and I hope he will be trustable.

今日の夕食は、Hello Fresh の「Midweek Chipotle Beef & Pork Rigatoni with Cheddar, Spinach and Rocket」（平日のチポトレ・ビーフ＆ポークのリガトーニ、チェダーチーズ、ほうれん草、ロケット入り）でした。題名にはほうれん草とありますが、入っていたのはグリーンピース。ラグーにグリーンピース？とは思いましたが、何かしらお野菜を加えるためだろと思います。ロケットをうえにのせるとありますが、今日はサラダを添えたのでロケットはパスタには使いませんでした。入っているのは、にんにく、ビーフとポークのミンチ、トマト・パッサータ、チェダーチーズ（代わりにペコリーノを使いました）、ワイルド・ロケット（使わず）、リガトーニ、チポトレ・ペースト、ビーフストックペースト、グリーンピース。お味は、不味くはなかったですがチポトレの味があまりしなくて、かと言って普通のラグーの味もしなくて、微妙かなと感じました。まぁ、でも、普通にいただけました。

Today’s dinner was “Midweek Chipotle Beef & Pork Rigatoni with Cheddar, Spinach and Rocket”.  It says “spinach” in the title but it came with green peas instead.  Green peas seem strange in a ragu type of sauce but I guess they wanted to add some sort of vegetable.  You are supposed to put some rocket leaves on top but we decided not to use it because we made a salad to go with the pasta.  In the pasta dish there are garlic, mince beef & pork, tomato passata, cheddar cheese (we used Pecorino instead), wild rocket (we didn’t use), rigatoni, chipotle paste, beef stock paste, green peas.  It wasn’t bad but we couldn’t taste the chipotle so much but it did’t taste like normal Italian ragu so we found it didn’t have enough flavour of something.  Still, it was OK.

デボンから戻って来た日のスーパーのデリバリーに、マークス＆スペンサーズのレディー・メイドのディナーのセット（メイン、サイド、デザート）をオーダーしていたのですが、デザートをまだ食べていなかったのでそろそろ食べようということで、２つセットだったフォンダン・ショコラの１つを半分ずつ、少しバニラアイスを添えていただきました。それほど甘すぎずヘビーすぎず、割と美味しいと思いますが、半分ずつでちょうど良い感じです。

On the day we came back from Devon we had a supermarket delivery and I’d ordered a set of ready made dinner from Marks & Spencer’s, it had a main, side & dessert.  We hadn’t had the dessert yet and thought we would have it today.  It was Fondant Chocolat and had two of them but we shared one and had it with a little Vanilla ice cream.  It’s not too heavy or too sweet but we find sharing one is just right amount.
