イギリスに引っ越して来てもう直ぐ丸６年になるのですが、昨日初めてここのクロースに住む女性たち５人の方達と（クロースには７軒のお家があり、女性は是認で７名ですが、お２人欠席でした）、直ぐ近くにあるパブでディナーをご一緒しました。引っ越してきた時はもう少しご近所付き合いがあるかと思っていましたが、引っ越してきた年に１軒のご夫婦がドリンクパーティーを開いてくださったのと、お隣のご夫婦がクイーンの即位７０周年のお祝いがあった２０２２年にガーデンパーティーを開いてくださったのと、２年前のクリスマス前にわたしたちがドリンクパーティーをホストした以外、個人的にお隣とのお付き合いがある以外ほとんどお付き合いはありませんでした。もちろん、家の前でガーデニングをしたりしているときなどに会うと立ち話はしますが、その程度のおつきあいになっています。それはそれで気楽で良いと思っていました。が、今回、女性同士でたまには集まりませんかというご提案があり、昨日のディナーになりました。

It’ll be 6 years in a week or two since we moved into this house in England and I had a dinner with 5 ladies who also live in the close (there are 7 houses here and there are 7 ladies but 2 of them couldn’t come) for the first time together at the pub near us.  I had sort of been expecting to have more gatherings with the neighbours but it hasn’t happened.  Once one of the couples invited everyone for a drink party soon after we moved, then our next door neighbour invited everyone to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of the Queen in 2022, then we invited everyone to a New Year party a couple of years ago but these are the only parties we had with them.  Of course we talk to each other whenever we see anyone outside the house and we do get together with our next door neighbour but that’s about it, and I quite like it that way.  However, a little while ago one of the ladies suggested for all the ladies to get together for a meal so that’s what we did yesterday

ということで、わたしはステーキ（サーロイン）にしました。ミディアム・レアーとお願いしましたが、まぁ、ウェルダンに近いミディアムかな、という感じ。でも、悪くはなかったです。ステーキにはブラックペッパーソースがついてきて、上にサラダがのっていて、フレンチフライが添えられていていました。サラダはフレッシュでドレッシングも美味しかったですが、サラダよりお野菜がほしいところ。

I had Steak (Sirloin).  I asked for Medium Rare but it was more like Medium, close to Well Done.  Still it wasn’t bad, and was enjoyable enough.  It came with black pepper sauce, a salad on top and french fries on the side.  The salad was fresh and the dressing was very nice, too, but I would have preferred some warn vegetables.

６人でわたしは端っこに座ったのでお隣のお隣の方とはほとんどおしゃべりできませんでしたが、一応他の方達のお顔は見えてお話も出来て良かったです。たくさんお喋りして、笑って、皆さん楽しまれたようで何よりでした。

There were 6 of us altogether and I sat at one end so wasn’t able to talk to the lady next but one to me, but other than that I was able to see everyone.  We all talked, laughed, I think everyone seemed to have enjoyed themselves, which was great.
