昨日はチチェスターに映画を観に行ったので、その前にランチをすることにしました。ちょっと前にもわたしはお友達と行ったのですが、アラカルトの２コース以上オーダーするとメインディッシュが半額になるというプロモーション中なので、Brasserie Blanc に行きました。昔ならディナーをしてから映画に行っていましたが、今は帰りが遅くなるのがおっくうなのと特にこの時期は夜は寒くて暗いので、ランチの方が良くなりました。夫の昼間からいますしね。

We decided to go to a cinema yesterday so we had lunch before that.  I’d been to “Brasserie Blanc” relatively recently with a couple of friends but since they are still having the promotion of 50% discount of their main dishes if you order 2 courses from the à la carte menu.  We used to go to dinner, then to a cinema but we don’t like being later at night these days and it’s dark and cold this time of year so we tend to prefer lunch.  My husband is around so lunch works for us now.

夫は、前菜に大好きなエスカルゴ。美味しい、美味しいと食べていました。ここのパンは、とても美味しいです。

My husband had his favourite, Escargot.  He was saying “Ummm!  So good!”  The bread here is very nice.

 

 

わたしはメインとデザートをオーダーすることに。なのですが、これと言って欲しいものが見つからず、アンディーブ、ブルーチーズ、りんごのサラダにしました。軽いメインということは承知でオーダーしたのですが、ほとんどがアンディーブでブルーチーズは１センチ角にも満たない大きさのものがちょこちょこっと散らしてあるだけで、りんごも薄い薄いのが６枚くらい入っていたでしょうか。くるみもほんのちょっと。１５.５ポンド（（３３００円）でこれはどうかと思います。他の品のボリュームと比較しても釣り合っていないと思います。ドレッシングもほんのちょっとしかかかっていなかったので味がせず追加でいただきましたし、担当の方に「お食事はいかがですか？」と聞かれたので、「メインでほとんどがアンディーブなのは酷いと思います、もっとチーズやりんごをたっぷりと入れるべきなのではないですか？」とクレームしておきました、キッチンに伝えておきますとのことでした。アンディーブばかり食べても美味しくもないので、他を拾って食べて、アンディーブは半分くらい残しました。キッチンに伝えておきますとのことでした。その後、特にお詫びもなく。

I ordered a main and a dessert but I couldn’t find anything I fancied so in the end ordered Chicory, Blue Cheese & Apple Salad  I knew it was going to be a very light meal but I didn’t expect it to be mostly chicory.  There were just some scatterings of very small pieces of blue cheese (1cm square or smaller) and maybe 6 or 8 slices of very thinly sliced apple and just a very little amount of walnuts.  £15.50!  As the person in charge asked us how our meal was, I did tell him that I’m disappointed with my salad because there isn’t much cheese or apple.  At tbis price for a main it needs more cheese and more apple.  He told me he’ll pass my comment to the kitchen but there was no follow up.  I also asked him for an extra dressing since there was only a little drizzle, not enough at all.  I was very shocked how little cheese and apple there was.  Their main dishes aren’t that small, this should be a little more substantial.

 

夫のメインは、鱈。お野菜がほとんどついてこないので、ステムブロッコリーをサイドディッシュにオーダーしていたので、わたしもアンディーブに飽きてステムブロッコリーも少し食べました。

My husband had Cod.  As it didn’t come with much vegetables he also ordered tender stem broccoli as a side dish and I had some of that as well since I got bored eating the chicory.

 

 

そして、ここでほぼ必ずオーダーする、ピスタチオスフレ、夫とシェアーしました。

Then I ordered Pistachio Souffle and shared it with my husband.  We order this almost always when we are here.

 

 

白ワイン１杯ずつとガス入りのお水１本とで、メインの割引があって67ポンド（１５３００円）。割引があったのでイギリスのレストランとしてはお安くはなっていますが、あのサラダのメインは酷い、ちょっと信じられない１品でした。

We had a glass of white wine each and shared a bottle of sparkling water.  With 50% discount for the main dishes, it was £67.  It was very reasonable because of the discount but I am still shocked with the salad.
