木曜日は（というよりも、最近かなり多い）１日中結構雨が降っていて外出したくなるお天気ではなかったのですが、ディナーは外食で、初めて行くレストランに行ってきました。いつだったか、ネイルサロンの担当の方（お若い方）が美味しくて好きなレストランだとおっしゃっていたのでそのうちトライしてみようと思っていたところで、しばらく外食していなかったので。チチェスターの駅のすぐ側になるウェスタンのテーマレストラン「Smith & Western」でお友達から聞いたことがないレストランですし「テーマレストラン」と聞いて少し不安はあったのですが、「若い人が行くところ？」と聞くとそんなことないとのことで、ウェブサイトを見てみると普通のテキスメックスのレストランっぽかったですし、メニューは夫が好きなメキシカンだったので。行ってみると、アメリカのレストランを思わせる内装になっていました。お客さんは主にお子さん（小さなお子さんからティーンくらいまで色々）連れのご家族が多いようでした。

Last Thursday, we went out for dinner, although the weather was awful, as we hadn’t been out for dinner for a little while.  My nailist mentioned to me that this restaurant is really good with good food so I wanted to try it, it’s called “Smith & Western”, and is very near Chichester station.  None of our friends mentioned this place and she told me it was a western themed so it worried me a little but we are always trying to find good restaurants around here.  I did ask her if it was for young people and she said it wasn’t.  I checked it up on their website and it looked nice and the menu was Tex Mex, which my husband loves, so we decided to give it a go.  The restaurant reminded me of some places we’d been to in the US.  The customers were mostly families some with small children but some with teenagers.

 

すごく、すごく久しぶりにコロナを飲みました。夫は、ノンアルコール。

We had a bottle of Corona each – my husband’s was the non alcohol variety.  It’s been years since we had Corona beer.

 

前菜にサラダをと思っていたのですが結構量が多そうだったので、結局メイン１つずつオーダーしてシェアしました。夫は、チキンのファヒータ。丸い石のような器にソフトタコスが入っています。チキンは臭みもなく硬くもパサパサでもなく、美味しくいただけました。ただ、かなりオイリーだったのと味が薄かったので、お塩を足したりホットソースを足したり。

I was thinking of having a salad for the starter but there was none of starter size and we would have had to have a main size one so we decided not to have starters.  My husband had Chicken Fajita, the grey round thing has warm soft tacos inside.  We shared so I had some of this, the chicken wasn’t gamy or totally dry or tough, it was good.  The whole dish was a bit too oily and needed more seasoning so we added some, as well as a splash of hot sauce.

 

わたしは、ベビー・バック・リブをオーダーしてみました。まぁまぁ、かな。骨についているお肉がかなり少ないのと、少し癖も気になり、ソースも少ない。もしまたオーダーするならソースを別にお願いすると思いますが、リブよりファヒータの方が好みでした。

I ordered Baby Back Ribs.  So-so, I think.  There wasn’t much meat on the bones, it did taste a little gamy and I didn’t think there was enough sauce.  If we order it again I would ask extra sauce, but of the two mains I preferred the Fajitas.

 

 

デザートは、チョコレートブラウニーをシェアしましたが、これは強烈に甘く、アイスもあまり美味しくなかったです。

We shared a dessert – Chocolate Brownie.  This was extremely sweet, much too sweet for me and the ice cream wasn’t great either.

 

 

音楽が煩いというのはありますが、まぁ、仕方のないところでしょうか。それ以外はレストランの内装の雰囲気は良かったですし、サービスも良かったです。食事もまずまずだったので、悪くないと思いました。お会計はチップをを入れて６６ポンド（１４１００円）くらいとイギリスにしてはとてもリーズナブルだと思います。ただ、前菜を食べなかったのでこのお値段ですが、１品のお値段は結構したので前菜を食べると跳ね上がると思います。ランチメニューはお安いようなので、ランチも一度トライしようかと思います。

The music was very loud so it was hard to talk but maybe that’s what it’s like at this sort of place. Other than that, the restaurant was quite nice and the service was good.  The food was OK, not too bad.  The bill was I think about £66 including some tip we added so I think it is quite reasonable for England.  However, we didn’t have any starter and each dish wasn’t cheap so if you have a starter each it becomes quite a lot more expensive.  Their lunch menu is less expensive so maybe we’ll try it for lunch, too.
