今日は親しいお友達ご夫婦とブランチをご一緒しました。お友達のご提案でつい最近オープンした 「Cross Kitchen」というカフェですが、随分前に一度同じご夫婦と行ったことがある「Welly’s Kitchen」というカフェが買い取られて Cross Kitchenとしてオープンしたそうです。お互いの家から車で２０分くらいのところにある、Oldwick にあるお店。

We had a brunch with our good friends today.  They suggested to meet at a cafe “Cross Kitchen”, which is about 20 minutes by car from either of us, apparently it opened very recently at the place, where  “Welly’s Tearoom” was in Oldwich.

お友達は、ベーグルの上にスモークサーモンなどがのったもの。

Our friend had Smoked Salmon etc on a bagel.

 

 

ご主人はクランペットの上にブラックプディングやポーチドエッグがのったもの。

Her husband had black pudding, poached eggs etc on crumpets.

 

 

夫は、ハム入りエッグベネディクト。

My husband had Eggs Benedict with ham.

 

 

わたしは「ブレックファーストバン」（ポーチドエッグとソーセージが入ったバンズ）。

I had Breakfast bun (poached egg & sausage).

 

 

飲み物は、お茶やカプチーノやガス入りのお水。お会計は１組４２ポンド（８９００円）。１品ずつでこのお値段はカフェとしてはちょっと高い方かなとは思いますが、美味しかったです。

We had tea, cappucino, coffee, sparkling water and the bill was £42 per couple.  It seems a little expensive for a cafe as we only had one dish each but maybe that’s how it is here; the food was good, though.

今日は朝からずっと雨でとても鬱陶しいお天気でしたが、お友達とたくさんおしゃべりできて楽しい一時が過ごせました。お天気予報によると日曜日まで雨が多そうです。秋から冬にかけてはイギリスはたまにしか太陽が顔を出さないので、鬱々とした気持ちになりがちなんですよね。

It was raining from morning for most of the day so quite miserable, but it was lovely to have a good chat with our friends.  Looking at the forecast, it looks like we’ll have rainy days until Sunday – this is how it often is at this time of year in England, quite depressing really, as you know it’ll be this way for another 4 or 5 months.
