ダートモアで３泊した後、マラケシュに飛ぶ前にロンドンに１泊だけしました。ロンドンにはマラケシュのヴィラにご一緒したシンガポールから引っ越されたお友達ご夫婦がおられるのでお時間があれば夕食をご一緒にとお声かけしてみたところ、アメリカからお友達がいらしているので無理かなとおっしゃっていたのですがそのお友達と５人で夕食をご一緒することが出来ました。

After 3 nights in Gidleigh Park, we stayed in London for 1 night before flying off to Marrakesh.  Our friends who moved from Singapore to London about six months ago were going to be with us in Marrakesh but I asked them if they would be able to join us for dinner that evening.  At first it didn’t look possible because their friend was staying with them but they came back to say they would come with their friend, so five of us got together for dinner.

ロンドンはそろそろクリスマスの飾りつけが始まっていて、まだ本格的ではなかったのですがそれでも綺麗でした。滞在したクラリジッズホテルのお花はいつも華やかで素敵です。イルミネーションはディナーに出かけたときにちょこっと撮ったもの。

Christmas decorations were looking beautiful here and there.  These flowers were displayed in the lobby of Claridge’s, they always have beautiful flower display and I look forward to seeing it every time we are there.  They were starting to put the Christmas lights up in London, too, so it was looking very pretty at night.

ディナーは、Social Wine & Tapas (シンガポールにあるPollenやEsquinaと同じグループ）で。ホテルから歩いて数分のところにありました。個室ではないのですが、少し階段を上がったところに１つだけある大きなテーブルを５人で使わせていただけたので、ほぼ個室状態でした。

We went to Social Wine & Tapas (the same group as Pollen & Esquina in Singapore), which was very close to our hotel.  Although it wasn’t a private room, we were given a nice large table that was off the main part of the restaurant so it was almost a private room.

１皿のポーションが少ないのでたくさんオーダーしましたが、どれも美味しかったです！特に印象に残っているのはビーツの１皿、人参のロースト、パンコントマテ、青いピーマン（？）のグリル。是非また行きたいと思ったお店でした。写真を見ていたら、食べたくなりました。ロンドン、最近は美味しいお店もたくさん出てきて、嬉しい。

Each portion was small so we ordered many dishes and they were all very good.  I particularly remember that beets, roasted carrots, tomato on toast, grilled green pepper were delicious.  I wish it were here!  I’m happy that there are many restaurants in London that serve delicious foods these days.

お友達ご夫婦とは半年ぶりくらいの再会だったのですが、会うとついこの間会っていたような気分。以前からフェイスブックでお顔を拝見していてお知り合いの気分だったお２人のお友達もご一緒にたくさんあれこれお話しつつ、美味しい食事をいただいて、美味しいワインを飲んで、とても素敵な夜でした。ありがとうございました！

Although we hadn’t seen these friends for six months it felt like we’d been meeting them often.  It was lovely also to meet their friend.  Good company, good wine, good food – we had a lovely evening.
