Cheese Party!

As I wrote yesterday, my husband’s brother and his wife brought a few cheeses from England so I wanted to share it with some friends and I asked a couple of friends if they’d like to come and have some cheese and salad.  It’s been such a long time since I had any guests for a meal that I basically practiced the menu yesterday as you may notice, but I still forgot to make courgette salad.  If I’d remembered it even while we were having lunch I could have made it in a few minutes but it was after my friends were gone when I remembered it!

As we were having a very simple lunch, I kept the table very simple, too.

First, I served Black Bean soup – it was a little too salty for me although manageable.

The main Cheese & Ham Platter – 4 different cheeses (Wigmore, Westcomb Chedder, Colston Basset Stilton and Stichilton), San Daniele Ham, Finocchio Salami, fig, dry apricot, date stuffed with almond.

I prepared 2 simple salads.  This one is Apple salad – you cannot see apple as it’s hidden on the bottom covered with salad leaves.

Lentil Salad as you saw in yesterday’s post. I though the presentation needed something so I added some salad leaves dressed with balsamic vinegar.

It’s fun to have a little bit of this and a little bit of that while we have red wine and chat a lot.  A few hours just flew.

I do love having my friends for a meal like this.  I wish I could do this more often without feeling nervous.
