我が家から食料品のお買い物に近いところというと、タングリンモールかグレートワールドシティー（グレワ）。シンガポールにしてしばらくは土曜日のランチはグレワに行くことが多かったのですが、今どうなっているかあまり行かないのでわかりませんが、当時ランチのおいしいところがなかったのと(Cedel というカフェで食べていましたが、あまり美味しくなかった）、ある時改装されてスーパーの通路がやたら狭くなってイライラするようになり、タングリンモールに行くようになりました。タングリンモールも当時特に美味しいところはなかったのですが、道を挟んだ向かい側の建物に入っている「Nassim Hill Bakery」が割合美味しいので、ここでランチをしてタングリンモールでお買い物をして帰る、というパターンが多くなりました。

The closest place to do food shopping from where we live is either Tanglin Mall or Great World City. We used to go to GWC for a long time after we moved to Singapore but one day after they renovated the supermarket the aisles became so narrow we couldn’t cope with it, GWC also didn’t have anywhere nice for lunch for us. We used to eat at Cedele but I don’t really like their food. So we started going to Nassim Hill Bakery for lunch, then crossing the road to do shopping in Tanglin Mall on Saturdays.

長い間、大抵 Turkey Club Sandwich をバゲットで（バター抜き）「カリッとなるまでパンを焼いてください」と頼んでいただいていました。(そう言わないと湿気ったパンで噛みきれない可能性あり。）スパイシーなソースとぱりっとしたバゲットがおいしいです。が、最近はこのチキンバジルソースのパニーニをよくいただきます。外側がカリッとして中が熱々で美味しい。ただ、熱々過ぎて、中からほうれん草やトマトがぺろっと出て来て唇について火傷をしないように要注意（経験済み）。一度ぱかっとサンドイッチを開けて１、２分冷ましてからいただくと、ちょうど良い感じです。今日のランチでした。（写真は撮りませんでしたが、夫はターキークラブサンドを食べていました。）

I used to have “Turkey Club Sandwich” with baguette often here (without butter) asking them to make the bread crispy because otherwise sometimes the bread would be soggy and very hard to chew. I like their spicy sauce and crispy baguette. However, my recent favourite is this Chicken Panini with basil sauce. It’s nice and crispy outside and lovely and hot inside. You have to be careful, though, because it’s really hot inside. I’ve burned my lip by a piece of spinach or a slice of tomato that came out and stuck on my lip. My tip is to open the sandwich and leave it for a minute or so until it cools down a little. This way it’s still warm but not burning hot. This was my lunch today. (I didn’t take a photo but my husband had Ham & Cheese Sandwich with baguette.
