Boeuf Bourguignon



Today’s dinner was Boeuf Bourguignon.  We tend to prefer beef stew cooked with vegetables so we hadn’t had Boeuf Bourguignon, which doesn’t have a lot of vegetables in, for quite a while.  We used a BBC recipe this time.

This sort of dish is always better on the following day, so we partially cooked it yesterday when we were cooking yesterday’s dinner and continued cooking today.  Yesterday, we cooked beef for 2 hours in the oven at 150C, then today we added mushrooms and shallots (we didn’t have small onions that the recipe has) and cooked for 30 more minutes in the oven.  Beef was very tender and moist, just right, and it was very good.
