今日は、夫の弟夫婦と久しぶりに会ってきました。８月にお２人のバースデーパーティーということでタイ料理を食べに来てもらって以来だったので、８ヶ月ぶりです。クリスマスにも会えなかったので、クリスマスプレゼントを持って行きました（笑）。Garden Wisley  (RHS) で待ち合わせて一緒に広いお庭を案内してもらいながら歩きました。

We went out and spent a half day with my brother-in-law and his wife today, it’s been 8 months since we met them last when they came over for their birthday lunch that we cooked Thai meal for.  We weren’t able to see them even for Christmas so we took them our Christmas presents today.  We met at “Garden Wisley (RHS)” and walked in the huge garden together.

この写真は途中の道。わたしのイメージでは、こういう桜がイギリスの桜です。八重咲きの大きな濃いピンクの桜で、正直、近くで見るとあまり素敵に思えないのですが、たくさん並んでいるのを遠くから見るととても綺麗。まだまだ寒いとは言え、通る道の木々は随分葉っぱが出てきて少しずつ冬っぽさがなくなってきています。

This is a photo I took on the way, these are the English cherry blossoms that I think of.  To be honest, I don’t find them very beautiful when I see them up close but when you see them from far away like this they look very pretty.

 

 

Garden Wisley に着いた時は陽が陰っていて結構寒かったのですが、歩いている途中で陽が差して暖かくなり、ジャケットを脱いで歩きました。中はとても広くて、今日は８５００歩歩いていました。まだイギリスは気温が低くて、もう５月というのに最低気温が１度、最高気温が１２度、という寒さなので、お花も寂しい感じでした。また、もっとお花がたくさん咲く時期に行ってみたいものです。

When we arrived at Wisley, it was quite cold, but the sun came out while we were walking and it got very warm, when I took my jacket off.  The garden is huge so my iphone shows that I walked 8,500 steps today.  It is still quite cold here even though it’s May tomorrow, 1C the lowest and 12C the highest so the garden isn’t full of flowers yet, we’d love to go back when it is.

ブラブラ歩いた後、今日もカフェの外席で飲み物を飲んでもう少しおしゃべりして、解散しました。間違ってビデオを消してしまったのですが、お母さん鴨と小鴨が６羽テーブルの下に落ちているパン屑などを食べに何度も足元にきて、とっても可愛かったです。

After we walked around, we sat at an outside table at the cafe with a drink before parting.  Sadly, I deleted the video I took by mistake but there were a mother duck and 6 ducklings, who came under the tables to pick bits of bread etc – they were so cute.

せっかく近くに住んでいるのにほとんど会えない１年間でしたが、これからロックダウンが緩むにつれて度々会えるようになると良いな、と思っています。

It seems so ironic that we haven’t been able to see my husband’s family much in the last one year since we moved from the other side of the world and now live close to them.  Hopefully that will change as the lockdown loosens.
