２日目、午後からは「Bourton-On-The-Water」をぶらっと歩きました。街の中に川が流れていて、夫と一緒に初めて行ったとき（３０年以上前）に川の中に大きなクリスマスツリーが置かれていたのがとても素敵だったのを今もとてもよく覚えています。以来、何度も訪れていて、ロックダウンの前にお友達ご夫婦と行ったときにも歩きました。

In the afternoon of the 2nd day of our trip we went to “Bourton-On-The-Water”.  It has a river in the middle of the town, which I feel makes even more attractive.  We still remember very well that when we went there 30 years ago for the first time together, there was a huge Christmas tree in the river.  Since then, we’ve visited here so many times including just before the lockdown with our friends.

今はコロナの影響で海外からの観光客はとても少ないと思うのですが、やはり気候がよくなってやっとロックダウンも緩和されて国内の方たちが多いのか、結構人が多かったです。６月のイギリスはどこに行っても薔薇やたくさんお花が咲いていてとても綺麗で、観光にはおすすめの時期ではあるのですが、日本ほどではないにしてもやはり人出が多いです。わたしたちは季節外れのコッツゥォルズに行くことが多かったのですが、あまり人がいない冬のコッツウォルズの方が雰囲気が良いね、なんて言いながら歩きました。

I guess there aren’t as many tourists from overseas as usual because of the corona situation, but there must be many British people because the weather has been lovely and the lockdown has loosened after many months of strict restriction, we did see many people there.  June in England is beautiful with roses and all sorts of flowers everywhere so I often tell my friends to come to England in June, but I have to say that the places are full of people.  Over the years we have tended to go to the Cotswolds when it’s cold and quiet and we feel we prefer it in winter.
