今日は義弟夫婦とアランデル城ガーデンズを歩いて、アランデルでランチをしました。アランデル城ガーデンズにはお友達と１度行ったことがありますが、去年の秋のことでした。
We went to Arundel Castle Gardens with my brother-in-law and his wife then had lunch in Arundel. We’ve been to Arundel Castle Gardens once with our friends but it was in autumn last year so a while ago.
お城の前にある駐車場がかなり埋まっていたので、今日は金曜日ですし（金曜日はどこも混むことが多い）とっても良いお天気で、学校はまだ夏休み中、しかも月曜日はバンクホリデーと言って祝日になっているもんね、と言っていたのですが、たまたまアランデル城では「ブリテン１２０００年の戦いの歴史」というイベントが催されていたので、それもあって混んでいたようです。そんな訳で前回行った時に比べて結構人が多かったのですが、それでもこの辺りでは日本のように混雑することはないのが有難いです。
The parking in front of Arundel Castle was quite busy, so we thought it was because it’s a Friday today, good weather, school holidays and Monday is a bank holiday, but when went in we realised they were having an event called “12,000 years of Combat” this weekend. So it was much busier than when we were there in autumn but I am glad that even then it’s quiet around here comparing to any touristy places in Japan.
お城に入ってすぐのところで、鷹匠が白いフクロウでデモンストレーションされていました。フクロウを目の前で見たのは初めて、可愛い。
Soon after we went in the castle ground, we saw a falconer doing some demonstration using a white owl, I’d never seen an owl in real life, very beautiful.
前回行ったときは秋だったので紅葉が綺麗でしたが、今回はたくさん夏のお花が咲いていました。でも、なぜか今回お花の写真は撮っていませんでした。
Last time it was in autumn and I remember seeing some autumn leaves, but this time there were a lot of summer flowers out, I don’t know why but I don’t seem to have taken many photos of flowers this time.
今回、見なかったお庭の部分が結構あったようなので、次回リベンジしなくては。
It looks like we missed quite a large part of the gardens, so we must go back again soon.
