お庭のリノベーションの際に１本だけ桜の木を植えました。ソメイヨシノ。まだまだひょろっとした木ですが、たくさんの蕾がふっくらとしてきました。家の前のグリーンにも何本か桜の木が植えられているのですが、そちらはまだまだ蕾が固い様子です。グリーンの方がたくさん太陽が当たるはずなので、種類が違うからでしょうか。どれもお花見をするほどの大きな木ではないのですが、咲いた様子を見るのがとても楽しみです。

We had one Japanese cherry tree planted when we had the garden renovation done  (a someiyoshino).  It’s still a very thin tree but we found a lot of buds getting fuller.  There are also a few cherry trees in the green in front of our house but their buds are still very tight and green.  They get more sun so maybe it’s to do with the kinds of the cherry trees that come out later.  Although none of the trees are large enough for us to have a hanami (traditional Japanese cherry blossom viewing gathering)  we are looking forward to seeing them in bloom, specially our tree.

桜と言えば、日本の春、日本の桜並木を歩くのは格別です。今年は行けるかな〜と思ったりもしたのですが、ビザのこともあり今年は諦めました。でも、来年は行けるのではないかと思っています。

Cherry blossoms means spring in Japan to me, walking among cherry trees when they are full of blossoms is something very special to Japanese.  I was hoping we can see them there this spring but as we’ll need to think of renewing my visa around May we decided not to go, but I really hope we can do so next year.
