Christmas Dinner

Christmas dinner at lunch time on the 25th.

Aperitif was Champagne or Poinsettia (cocktail of Champagne, cranberry juice & Cointreau).

We opened the crackers, read jokes and put the paper crowns on – but the crowns kept slipping down so we gave up quickly.

I tend to forget to take a photo of bread but they served us 2 types, Brioche with rosemary, and sourdough.  Brioche was quite dry but sourdough was very nice, crispy outside and soft inside.

Amuse was heart-shaped waffles & salmon mousse, caviar & creme fresh with herbs.

They gave me chicken liver mousse instead of salmon mousse and truffle instead of caviar.

The starter was saffron risotto with gold.  We find their risotto much too chalky, just like their pasta, and very salty.

Last year, there was another starter but only one starter this year but a larger portion of the main course this year.  Turkey, sausage wrapped with bacon, roast potatoes, roast parsnips, roast carrots, boiled Brussels’s sprouts & stuffing.  (Last year there was no stuffing and only 1 slice of turkey).

Cheese with truffle.

Dessert was of course Christmas Pudding.  I had a small spoonful only, I don’t like Christmas pudding.  My husband didn’t have my left-over, he said just his was enough.
