昨日の夕食は、メインダイニングの The Restaurant でいただきましたが、食前にバーラウンジで夫はバイキングのカクテルを飲みました。昨日も海はいつものようにとても穏やかで綺麗でした。

My husband had Viking Cocktail at the bar lounge before we had dinner at the Restaurant yesterday. The sea was very calm and beautifully blue as it has been all the way on this trip.

前菜は、夫はシーザーサラダ。

My husband had Caeser Salad for the starter.

わたしは、バターナッツ・スクウォッシュのスープ。

I had Butternut Squash Soup.

夫のメインは、ほうれん草とリコッタチーズのカネロニ、トマトソース。少し味見しましたが、珍しく熱々で出てきて、重すぎず、美味しかったです。

My husband’s main was Spinach & Ricotta Cannelloni, with tomato sauce. I had a little bite to taste and it was nice and hot (whichi isn’t what you often get), not too heavy and very tasty.

わたしはメインに食べたいものが見つからなかったので、ベジタリアンメニューから「ポメロの生春巻き」をオーダーしたところ、「メインにですか？では、メインポーションにしてもらうようにしますね。」と言われました。出てきたのは、これ。思わず、「これって、メインの量なんですか？」と聞いてしまいましたが、メインの量だそうです。

I couldn’t find anything I fancied under the main category so I ordered “Pomelo Fresh Spring rolls” from under “Vegetarian” category. The staff said, “For the main? Then we’ll make it to a main portion.” This is what I got. I couldn’t help asking if this was really “main portion” and apparently it is.

前菜の量にしても少なめ、という気がしました。で、足らなかったので、追加に前菜の量でオーダーしました。ちょっと物足りない感はありましたが、お味は悪くなかったです。

I thought it seemed small even for a starter. It wasn’t enough for me, so I ordered another “starter portion”. I thought they could have put a little more filling but it tasted good.

デザートは、夫はチョコレート・デカダンス。

For the dessert, my husband chose Chocolate Decadance.

わたしは、クッキー＆クリームのジェラート。普段はジェラートやシャーベットは面白みがないのでデザートには滅多にオーダーしないのですが、船のデザートはヘビーだったり甘いものばかりで好みのものがないので、ほとんどジェラートかシャーベットをいただくことになります。

I had Cookie & Cream Gelato. I find most of the desserts on the ship too heavy or too sweet so end up ordering gelato or sorbet, which I don’t usually do because I find it a bit too boring.

昨日は、船に乗って初めてお隣のテーブルの方お2人とおしゃべりをしました。アメリカの方はフレンドリーで知らない人によく話しかける、というイメージで実際そういう方も多いと思うのですが、この船では案外そうではない方も多く、エレベーターで一言二言言葉を交わすことはありますし、エクスカーションでのランチで同じテーブルになった方達と少しお話はしましたが、長くおしゃべりするということはなかったのです。わたしたちが話したくないオーラを出しているのかもしれません（笑）。

Yesterday, for the first time on this ship, we had a long chat with the 2 ladies at the table next to us. I have an impression that the most American people are very friendly and chatty and talk to anyone easily, but our experience on this ship hasn’t been that way. Although we do exchange a few words in the lift now and again and we have talked a little with the people we sat at the same tables at lunches on excursions, I cannot say we chatted a lot. Maybe we have an aura that says “we don’t want to talk to strangers”?
