今日は、午前中はネイルサロン、その後、お昼にPark House Hotel でランチ代わりのアフタヌーンティーをしてきました。良いお天気だったので、パティオでいただきました。
I had an appointment at my nail salon in Chichester, which finished around noon, then we went to “Park House Hotel” for an afternoon tea. The weather was lovely so we sat on their patio.
予約を入れる時にアレルギーのあるものにチェックをいれるところがあったので、わたしはシーフードやお魚にアレルギーありのチェックを入れましたし、その他の要望をいれる部分にバターの代わりにマヨネーズを使っていただけますか、と加えたのですが、全く考慮されておらず（っていうか、多分読んでもいない）、サンドイッチはきゅうり、サーモンリエット、ハムとトマトのサンドイッチだったのですが、しっかりバター、そしてしっかりサーモンリエットでした。まぁ、正直、期待はしていなかったのですが。なので、夫がサーモンリエットサンドを２つ、わたしがきゅうりのサンドをいただきました。このきゅうりのサンドイッチの美味しくないこと（涙）。わたしは、きゅうりのサンドイッチが大好きなのですが、全くお塩がされていなくて、バター、きゅうり、のみ。美味しいサンドイッチと美味しくないサンドイッチの差ってほんのちょっとしたことなのだと思うのですが、凄く大きいんですよね。残念でした。ハムとトマトはハムの塩気で大丈夫でしたが、きゅうりはお塩してないと本当に美味しくない。
When I made the reservation, the site asked if I was allergic or intorolant to anything so I did put checks against ‘seafood’ and ‘fish’ and also wrote “Could you use mayonnaise instead of butter, please?” in the box, where you are supposed to add any other requets. Well, none of that has been considered by them. I suppose they didn’t even read them and we didn’t bother to tell them either. Sandwiches were Cucumber, Salmon Rillette, and Ham & Tomato, so my husband had the 2 salmon one and I had 2 cucumber sandwiches. The cucumber sandwiches were not enjoyable at all because there was no seasoning whatsoever, just butter and cucumber. I LOVE cucumber sandwiches when they are made properly but these were tasteless. The ham & tomato sandwich was OK because of the saltiness from the ham. You don’t need to do anything ‘special’ to make sandwiches well but there is a world of difference between tasty sandwiches and not tasty sandwiches. Such a shame they don’t season their food.
グラスの入っているのは、ガスパチョ。これは、割と美味しかったです。スコーンは、プレインは軽くて美味しかったのですが、過ランツ入りはぱさぱさで喉が詰まりそうでした。
The glasses have gazpacho, which was nice. The plain scones were nice and light but the one with currants was very dry, I couldn’t eat it.
ラズベリークリーム入りのドーナッツが美味しかったです。メレンゲのタルトは下のレモンクリームがドロドロでだらだらとたれてきて、お皿も手もべちゃべちゃ（涙）。わたしはチーズケーキは苦手なのでキウイのチーズケーキは夫に食べてもらいましたが、美味しいと言っていました。
On the cake layer the Raspberry cream donut was very nice. The tart with meringue wasn’t very enjoyable, the texture of the meringue was wrong and the lemon cream underneath was so runny, it went all over the plates and our hands. I don’t like cheese cake so my husband had both pieces, he said they were quite nice.
環境的には小鳥が鳴いていて静かで良いお天気の中で悪くはないですし、室内の内装も悪くない感じでしたが、サンドイッチがあまりに美味しくないですし、甘くない系のものが少なすぎると思いますし、全体の量も少ない。アフタヌーンティーに行くと食べきれずに甘いものは持ち帰るのが常ですが、カランツ入りのスコーンは美味しくなかったので残しましたが、あとは食べ切りました。
The environment was nice enough, the birds were singing, it was quiet and relaxing on the patio with the the beautiful weather and inside also looked quite nice. However, the sandwiches were pretty bad, not enough savory and not enough altogether. Whenever we go to an afternoon tea, we always end up with some left-overs that we bring home, but not this time. We had it all except one currant scone, because it wasn’t enjoyable I left it after a little bite.
ガス入りのお水１本をオーダーして、サービス料込みで７9ポンド（15430円）でした。ホテルのアフタヌーンティーは最低50ポンドなので格安ではありますが、やはり、それなりというか、むしろ１人40ポンド（7800円）は高いと感じます。また行くことは、多分、ないかな。
It was £79 with a bottle of sparkling water and service charge. As far as I could see, afternoon tea at a hotel usually cost at least £50 per person (plus service) so it is relatively inexpensive, but not inexpensive enough to feel it was worth it. I don’t think we’ll go back.
やはり、高くても、これまでのところCliveden Hotel が一番素敵だと思いますが、日帰りで行くには遠くて運転する夫が大変なので、特別な機会でなければなかなか行けません。
Although it is pretty expensive, I do like Cliveden Hotel the best, but I feel it’s too far for my husband to drive and back in a day casually unless it’s a very special occasion.
