今日は、香港時代のお友達ご夫婦３組とランチをご一緒してきました。１組のニュージーランド人のご夫婦の娘さんとご家族がイギリスにお住まいなので、この何年か毎年いらしていて、イギリスでお目にかかれるのは今回で３回目くらいでしょうか。人数が多いのでみなさんとお話は出来なかったのですが、女性４人は固まって座ったので他の女性たちとはキャッチアップが出来ました。もう香港を出て１７年くらいになりますが（もっと早く香港を出た人も）、ずっとコンタクトを取っていて、年に何度もメールでのキャッチアップをしています（他にも３ご夫婦がオーストラリアにお住まい）。みなさん、とてもお元気そうなのを拝見できて嬉しかったです。

We had a lunch gathering with a group of friends from our Hong Kong days.  There were 4 couples including us.  The daughter and her family of one couple from NZ are living in England so they’ve been visiting England every year for the last few years, I think this is the third year for us to see them here.  As the group was quite large, we weren’t able to talk to everyone, but 4 girls sat together so we were able to catch up.  It’s been something like 17 years since we left Hong Kong (some left before us) but we are still exchange emails many times a year.  (There are another 3 couples living in Australia in the group as well.)   It was lovely to see everyone looking well and great.

わたしはチキンバーガー。心配だったチキンは硬くなく臭みもなかったのですが、チキンもチップスも油臭かったのでチップスはほとんど食べませんでした。カリカリとはしていたのですが、油を吸ってる感じでした。

I had Chicken Burger.  I was worried about chicken being very tough or gamy but it was fine, but unfortunately both chicken and chips had absorbed the cooking oil.  They were crispy but greasy at the same time so I left most of the chips.

朝は雨でしたが、パブを出る頃には止んで青空も見え、帰り道ではとても良いお天気になりました。イギリスの田舎の景色、本当に綺麗。

It was raining in the morning but by the time we came out of the pub it had turned out to be much nicer and became quite sunny while we were driving home.  English countryside is so beautiful.
