夫が出張で留守なので、お友達と夕食をご一緒することになりました。１ヶ月日本にいる間に再来週の本帰国が決まってしまったお友達と共通のお友達の３人で。お家パーティーをしたいところなのですが、元気ではあるものの余り気力が出ないので（母のことは言い訳で単に怠け癖がついているのかも）、外でさくっと食べてからうちでのんびりチーズなどつまんでワインを飲むことに。

My husband is still away so I had dinner with some friends.  One of them is leaving Singapore soon.  I would have loved to hold a party at home but somehow I don’t feel I have enough mental energy right now so we went out to a restaurant for a relatively quick dinner and came back home to have some cheese and wine.

ちょっと久しぶりに南蛮亭に行ってみました。これから日本に帰られる方と南蛮亭というのもどうかという気もするのですが、軽く食べられるところで真っ先に浮かぶのが焼き鳥や居酒屋さん。南蛮亭は何度か行っていますが、普通に美味しくお値段もシンガポールではリーズナブルだと思うので、平日の夜ちょこっと行くのは良いかな、と。結構混んでいました。

We went to Nanbantei.  A Japanese restaurant may not seem to be an ideal place for dinner with someone who would be going back to Japan, but I wanted somewhere we can eat lightly at reasonable cost and Nanbantei came up in my mind.  It was quite busy tonight.  We ordered various dishes and a jug of beer to share between 3 and it was about S$54 per person.

ねぎま、ししとう、豚の紫蘇巻き、豚バラの柚子胡椒焼き、銀杏、つくね、手羽先、デザートに白玉ぜんざい。どれも美味しくいただきました。写真にはありませんが、生ビールをジャグでいただきました。１人５４ドルだったと思います。

軽くオーダーしたつもりでしたが、結構お腹いっぱいになりました。早めに始めてさくっと食べて、、わが家でゆっくり。Providoreのチーズプラターやドライフルーツやナッツなどつまみつつ、赤ワインを飲みながらあれこれおしゃべり。テーブルクロスとナプキンは、スリランカで購入したものです。

We thought we had ordered lightly but we felt quite full by the time we left the restaurant.  We then came back home and chatted over red wine and a cheese platter from Providore, as well as some nuts, dried fruits and some fresh dark cherries until the date changed.  The table cloth and the napkins are from Sri Lanka.

日付が変わる頃まであれこれとりとめもなく話をして、最後に母のお通夜やお葬式のことも聞いていただき、自分たちのお墓の話になったり（苦笑）。日本に帰ってしまわれるお友達とこんな風に過ごせるのももうないのだろうと思うとさみしいですし、そのお友達に限らず、こうしてゆっくりお友達と過ごす夜はそう多くはないこと。当たり前のように感じる時間も決して当たり前ではないのだな〜、と感じる機会が多くなりました。

We talked about all sort of things including my Mum’s funeral and the day before funeral, which led us to talk about our own future grave – not a fun subject but it comes up now and again specially with the friends who would be likely to be living outside of Japan or are married to non-Japanese.
