今回ロンドンでは３泊しか出来ず、エジンバラから着いたのは夕方に近かったですし、最終日は早朝のフライトで、その上到着した翌々日の午前中は用があったので正味１日半しかなく、荷物に余裕がなかったとは言え、いつも楽しみにしているチーズ類や雑貨類、洋服の買い物などに割く時間が余りなく残念でした。それでも、到着した翌日ランチの前に欲しかったバッグのお店と香水のお店に、ランチの後には毎回必ず紅茶を買う Fortnum & Maison などわたしがリストアップしたところに夫が連れて行ってくれました。もちろん、夫のお買い物も少しはしましたが、いつもわたしのお買い物を優先してくれます。でも、今回は、最後に寄るつもりだったハロッズに寄るのをすっかり忘れてしまいました。ハロッズの食品売り場を見てチーズを買うのが毎回の楽しみだったのに（涙）。
We had only 3 nights in London this time. We didn’t get to London until almost evening and we had to leave very early on our last day for an early flight, I had something for the morning of the 3rd day, so basically we only had 1.5 days. We usually look forward to doing shopping of clothing, food like cheeses, tea, etc and also some household stuff sometimes, but this time we didn’t have much time. However, my husband was very kind and took me to all the places I listed in those 1.5 days including Fotnum & Maison for tea, some shops for a bag and a perfume I wanted etc. Sadly we forgot to go to Harrods, where we always enjoy walking in their food hall and buying some cheeses.
いつもロンドンから戻ると、もっと街の写真を撮れば良かったと後悔します。あまりに何度も行っているので写真を撮ろうとなかなか思わないのです。
Every time after our stay in London, I regret that I didn’t take many photos. As we’ve been there so many times I don’t think of taking photos but I love London so I should.
毎回ロンドンでは他ではあまり行けないようなレストランに行きたいと思っているのですが、今回はプランを立てるのが遅すぎて行きたいところはどこも満席。あれこれ思いましたが、ランチタイムになら予約が取れた「ロンドンで一番ロマンチックなレストラン」（トリップアドバイザー）というコベントガーデンにある Clos Maggiore に予約を入れていました。この日はお買い物もあったので、一眼レフは持ち歩かず。
I usually plan to go to some special restaurants in London, but we were too late to make reservations in any special places this time. After searching for a long time, in the end, I made a reservation at “Clos Maggiore” in Covent Garden, which is supposed to be London’s most romantic restaurant according to Tripadvisor. As we were doing shopping as well, I didn’t take my big camera.
レストランのお部屋を事前に写真で見て、一年中お花が咲いているはずはないので咲いていない時期はどうなのかな、それとも造花？と思っていたら、造花でした。微妙な感じ。。。中庭のようになっているところです。
Looking online at the photos of the room of this restaurant I saw when researching I was wondering what it looks like when the blooms aren’t out, or are they fake flowers…?… and yes they were fake. I cannot say fake flowers are my favourite.
わたしは前菜はグリーンピースのスープにしました。美味しくいただきました。
I had Green Pea Soup as a starter, which was very nice.
夫は、スモークしたウサギとフォアグラのバロティーヌ。
My husband’s starter was Smoked Rabbit & Foie Gras Ballotine.
夫のメインは、レモンとタイムのチキンの胸肉。
His main was Oven Roasted Lemon & Thyme Chicken Breast.
わたしは、オーブンでベイクしたお野菜のあれこれ。これもなかなか美味しかったです。
I had Oven Baked Vegetables, which was also very good.
パンも美味しかったです。
Bread was also very good.
殆ど食べちゃってますが、プチフール。お腹いっぱいになってしまったので、デザートはオーダーしませんでした。
Petit Fours – after we had quite a few pieces… We were very full so didn’t have dessert.
サービスも良かったですし、どれもなかなか美味しかったです。ただ、写真からもわかるかと思うのですがとても洗練されたお料理ということではないですね。夫婦で特別な日に行くレストランというよりもお友達とのランチに行くところ、という感じかな。でも、お値段もお安かったですし（２コースで24.5ポンド、ハーフボトルつきで29.5ポンド）美味しかったので不満はありませんでした。
Service was good and everything I had was very tasty. As you can probably see from the photos, it wasn’t specially sophisticated cooking. It’s somewhere I would choose to go for a nice lunch with friends rather than for a special dinner with my husband, but it was inexpensive (24.5 pounds for 2 courses, 27.5 pounds with additional half bottle of wine) and everything was cooked well and tasted good, so no complaints at all.
