この辺りは、最高気温２６度、金、土、今日と同じくらいのはずですが、今日は更に暑く感じます。暑い日が続くと家の中の気温も上がりますし、今日は湿度が高めなのかもしれません。とにかく、イギリスで２６度といえば暑い！ロンドンは３０度超えたみたいです。まぁ、ベッドルームは冷房が効いていますし、昼間もわたしはクラフトルームで冷房を使うことが出来るのですが、キッチンとリビングルームはそこそこ暑くなります。（閉め切ってダイニングの冷房をつけて全体を冷やすことも出来ますが。。。）夫はお庭の日陰で本を読んだりして過ごしていました。多分、夫のミュージックルームは２階なのでかなり暑いと思います。それにしても、寒い、寒いと言っていた日々から一気にヒートウェーブ、ちょうど良い２２、３度は飛び越えた感じです。とはいえ、このヒートウェーブは後数日、来週水曜日辺りからだんだん気温が下がるようでほっとします。

The highest temperature was 26C around here, so it hasn’t changed for the last few days but it felt hotter today than the previous two days, it seems to feel so after a few days of continuous hot weather probably because the temperature inside raises.  Maybe the humidity was a little higher today?  Not sure.  It was above 30C in London, it  must be awful.  Our bedroom is cool at night with the aircon on and I can stay in my cool craft room but it does get warm in the kitchen and the living room.  It’s possible for us to close all the windows/doors and put the aircon in the dining room so the 3 downstairs rooms cool down when it gets worse but we haven’t done that yet.  My husband spent most of the time in the shade in the garden reading as I guess his music room is very hot as it’s upstairs.  It has gone from the weather when we kept saying how cold it was to this, skipping the nice temperatures of around 22C, 23C.  Still, this lasts only for a few more days and it’ll start going down on Wednesday, I’m glad to say.

我が家は昨日バーベキューでしたが、「土曜日はみんなバーベキューしようということになってスーパーが混みそうだから」と金曜日にバーベキュー用のものを買いに行きましたが、金曜日は既にかなり混んでいました。月曜日が祝日なこともあり、多分、この週末は全国的にバーベキューをしている人が大勢おられると思います、やっとバーベキューが出来る気候になったので。でも、こう暑いとバーベキューには暑すぎる気が。。。昨日はまだましでした。

We had BBQ last night and went to a supermarket to get a few things for that on Friday because we thought it’d be very busy on Saturday but it was pretty busy already on Friday and I imagine that a lot of people in the UK are having BBQ this weekend, which has a public holiday on Monday. People have been waiting for warm weather.  I feel this is too hot for BBQ, though – thankfully it wasn’t so bad yesterday.

暑くてお料理したくないね、ということで、今日は暑くなったらと思っていたガスパチョにしました。イギリスの短い夏にわたしたちが一番食べるのがガスパチョかもしれません。簡単で火を使わなくて良くて美味しいので。

Anyway, we didn’t feel like cooking so we made Gazpacho for dinner, I think Gazpacho is probably what we have most during the short summers in England.  You don’t have to use any heat and it is delicious.

そして、ガスパチョの後にWaitrose のソーセージロール、サラダ、フムス、サワドートースト１切れ。

After Gazpacho, we had sausage rolls from Waitrose with a small salad, hummus & a slice of toasted sourdough bread.
