ウダイプールの一番の観光スポットが、シティーパレス。ラジャスタン州で最も大きなマハラジャ宮殿で、観光客が観光できるのは全体の半分程度で今もその子孫が住んでいて、一部はホテルとして使われています。インドの観光地はそういうところが多いのですが、ここもとても広くみて回るのに時間がかかり、２時間程度は見ておく方が良いと思います。

The first place we visited on the morning of Day 5 was the City Palace, the most popular sightseeing spot in Udaipur.  Apparently it’s the largest Maharaja palace in Rajasthan.  The area open to public is only about a half, some part is the residence of the current maharaja and some part is used as a hotel.  It’s a huge place, you need to take at least about 2 hours to see all – many places we visited in India were very large and took a long time to see everything quickly.

レイクパレスホテル側から見たシティーパレス。こうして見ても、その広さがわかります。どこを見ても細かい細工が目を引き写真を撮りたくなり、すごい数の写真になってしまいました。皆さん多分携帯で写真をご覧になると思うのですが、写真はやはり大きな方が見応えがあるのでPCで見ていただきたいな〜、と思います。

City Palace from the Lake Palace Hotel side.  You can see how large it is.  Wherever you look in City Palace, you see beautiful work, you cannot help taking photos.  I tried to reduce the number of photos to upload but I still have so many here.  I guess most people look at the photos on my blog on a smartphone but I hope some of you will see them on your PC – photos look nicer when they are larger.

湖の中に見えるのがレイクパレスホテル、その手前に見えるのがサンセットテラスというレストラン・バー。ここから夕日が綺麗に見えて景色が良いというので夕方に飲みに来たいと思っていたのですが、時間が押して無理でした。
