朝は久しぶりに青空が広がる良いお天気でした。午後から曇って雨まで降りましたが。
The weather was beautiful this morning with blue sky! It didn’t last long, though.
本格的なリノベーションの工事に先駆けて、明日キッチンとダイニングルームのラジエーターの場所を移動するのですが。移動する先の壁を先に塗り替えておく必要があるので壁塗り作業が午前中にありました。少しずつですが３コート塗るのでそれなりに時間がかかります。工事が終わったら全部の壁を塗り替えるので、大変そう。
Before the main renovation work starts, we need to have some radiators removed and relocated and so we needed to have the walls painted where the new radiators are to be installed in the kitchen and dining room. Only a few small areas but it still took a while as our painter lady did 3 coats.
壁の色は光によって全然違ってみえるので時間帯によっても違ってみえますし、キャビネットなど他の色にも影響されますし、何しろ色は微妙なものなので写真ではあまり意味ない気もしますが、一応記録に。右が今現在の色（オフホワイト）、左が新しい色（薄いグレー）。キッチンとダイニングの壁の色に関しては、インテリアコーディネーターの方に一任しました（確認はされましたが）。キッチンのキャビネットのドアが半分以上グレーになるのとダイニングのキャビネットもかなり暗いグレーなので、壁も淡いグレーにされたのだと思います。
Colours are very hard to capture, they look different with different lighting, and also the colours surrounding make some differences, so it probably doesn’t mean much to take a photo, but here is one just for the record (my husband thinks it looks like a Rothko painting). The right side is the current colour and the left is the new colour, they are a little warmer colours in real life. We basically left the final choice of this to our interior designer (though she did ask if we were OK with it). There will be dark colours in both the kitchen and dining cupboards so I guess she feels the walls need to be toned down, too.
壁塗り作業が終わってからしばらくして、近くのガーデンセンターに行ってみました。夏に来たときにお友達が連れて行ってくださったガーデンセンターです。ユーチューバーの情報ですが、ここのピザが美味しいと聞いたのでランチに行って、ついでにお花など見てきました。平日のガーデンセンターは、お年寄りがいっぱい！わたしたちもそうなのですが（笑）、わたしたちが若い部類です。
After the painting was finished, we went to a nearby large garden centre (Haskins). My friend had taken me there in the summer and told me that is probably the closest large garden centre to us. I’ve heard a you-tuber saying their pizza is very good so we had pizza for lunch there. Garden Centre on a weekday is full of elderly people! We are also a part of them, of course, but we were the young ones there.
１人１枚食べられるサイズだと思ったら思っていたより分厚くて、半分で丁度良い量。半分残して持って帰って来たので、夕食の予定を変更して今日はピザとサラダになりました。イタリアンのピザではなくアメリカンなピザですが、スパイシーなピザの方が美味しかったです。
We thought we needed one pizza each as they weren’t very large but they were thicker than we thought so we just had a half of each and the other halves will be our dinner tonight with a salad. It’s not Italian pizza, more American pizza, but the crust was quite nice.
お花はこの時期はそれほど多くなく、球根類の他にはパンジーとビオラとクリスマスローズとプリムローズ、それくらいかな。裏庭にいくつか鉢植えを置きたいですし、玄関のところにハンギングバスケットを置きたいのですが、家が落ち着いてからですね。
This time of year, they don’t have a lot of flowers, just some bulbs, pansies, violas, Christmas roses and primroses, I think. We’d like to have a few pots of flowers in the back garden and also some hanging baskets in the front but I think we’ll wait until the house is all done.
とても大きなガーデンセンターで、お花以外にもガーデニング用の道具類、アウトドアの家具、キッチン用品など色々置かれています。季節がもう少し春になって来たらお花も植えてみたいので再訪予定ですが、お花のことはほとんど知らないのでお勉強しなければ。
It’s a very large garden centre, they have all sorts of gardening tools, outdoor furniture, kitchen stuff and many others. When it’s better weather we’d like to have flowers in our garden so we’ll visit them again, but we don’t know much about gardening, we need to learn quite a lot.
帰りにまた、虹が出ていました！肉眼の方がずっとくっきり見えたのですが、写真だとうっすら。
We saw another rainbow on our way home.
