昨日はとっても良いお天気だったのですが、今日はすっかりイギリスの冬に戻ってジメジメした暗い一日です。小鳥もあまり見かけませんでした。
今朝、プチぎっくり腰の一歩手前（ぐきっとは来なかったですが痛っ！が来ました）になったので、湿布をして気をつけながらゆるゆると動いています。このところ寒かったですし、お料理をしたりちょっとした家事をする以外座りっぱなしですからね。気をつけなくては。
It was a very nice day yesterday with blue sky but it was back to a dark and wet English day today, not a lot of birds visited our garden.
クラフトルームに置く家具、最後のビンテージ家具が届きました！イギリスでビューローと呼ばれるデスク。ナショナルトラスト などの古いマナーハウスを見学すると必ずアンティークのビューローが置かれています。キッチンや書斎を見学するのも好きですが、このビューローも大好きなものの１つ。日本の方には文房具がお好きな方が多いので、こういう家具もお好きな方が多いかもと思います。もちろん、マナーハウスなどに置かれているビューローはとてもデコラティブで素敵ですが、当然手が届きませんし、我が家にも合いません。こんなのとかね。（写真は、Vinteriorというサイトからお借りしました。）
The last piece of vintage furniture we ordered got delivered – a bureau. When you visit National Trust or other Manor Houses, there are always some bureaux. I love looking at them as well as kitchen and library. Japanese love stationeries so I feel they probably like this sort of furniture, too. Of course those that you see in Manor Houses are beautiful decorative antiques – something like this (the photo is from Vinterior), which are too expensive for us and also too decorative to go in our house.
購入したのは、こちら。１９４０年台くらいのものにペイントしたものです。郵便物を出す時に必要なものや他の文房具など夫もわたしも使うようなものをここに収納する予定です。
This is what we bought. Apparently it’s made in or around the 1940s but has been newly painted. I think we’ll use it to keep things that we need for posting letters/cards/parcels – like postage stamps, tapes – and other stationeries that both my husband and I would use.
蓋を開けるとテーブルトップになります。このテーブルトップに貼ってある布がなんだかなと思いましたが別のものを貼れば良いしと思って購入しました。実際にみるとそう悪くなく、写真より馴染んで見えるので、このままで使おうと思っています。
I didn’t like this fabric on the table top and thought we’ll change it but it looks better in real life than the photos, so maybe I’ll keep it as it is.
これで、購入することに決めていたビンテージ家具は揃いました。窓側の壁に置く家具はIKEAで購入し、少し前に届いたので夫が組み立ててくれました。反対側の壁に置く家具を１つIKEAにオーダーする予定なのですが、それ以外は大工さんに作りつけていただくのでしばらく時間が必要です。
So this is all the vintage furniture we planned to buy. We ordered 3 unites of IKEA storage unit, which arrived last week. My husband assembled them. The rest of the furniture is being made by our carpenter, which we don’t know when.
こうして写真で見ると広く見えますがこれはかなりな広角レンズで撮っているからで、実際にはそう広くないので、本棚を入れて他の家具を入れて作業用のテーブルを真ん中に置くとほとんど余裕はありません。シンガポールのスタディーはここよりずっと広かったです。でも、シンガポールでは寝室を使っていたのでクロゼットが作りつけてあり、夫のデスクなどもありましたし、パティオ側の壁はほとんどがガラスのスライディングドアになっていたので、使える壁の面積はここの方が広いかな、と思います。
The room looks quite large on some photos but it’s because I used a very wide lens, it’s not really such a large room. With bookshelves and more furniture as well as a large work table in the middle there won’t be a lot of room left. The study we had in Singapore was a lot larger than this room, but there it was supposed to be a bedroom and there were many closets built in, we also had my husband’s desk in there (which we won’t here) and also the patio side was mostly glass sliding doors, so we probably have more space for storage furniture in this room.
