今日は、ペットワースの美容院に行きました。イギリスに引っ越してきて少しの間はロンドンでカットしてもらっていましたが、ロックダウンになる前のクリスマス前にロンドンに行く機会がなかったのでペットワースの美容院に行き始め、それ以来ずっと同じ美容院に行っています。昔ロンドンで美容院をされていて世界的にも活躍されていたという方なので、日本人の髪も切り慣れておられるので安心です。

We went to Petworth as I needed to go to the hair salon there.  After we moved to England I was having my haircut done in London for a while, but we didn’t have a chance to go to London a little before Christmas and I really wanted to have my hair done, so I started going to the one in Petworth and have been going there ever since.  As this hairdresser used to have a salon in London, and used to also work worldwide, he is used to cutting oriental hair like mine, which is important.

わたしのブログに度々美容院が登場するのは、度々美容院に行くしかない事情があるのです。というのは、わたしは運転免許は持っていますが（ゴールドです、笑、ずっとなんとなくある方が便利かもと更新してきましたが、今から運転するなんてあり得ないですしこれまで免許証が便利だったこともなかったので、次回の更新時期には更新しません）全くのペーパ・ドライバーなので夫に送り迎えをしてもらうしかありません。ペットワースまでは片道３０分くらいかかり、カットの時間は１時間くらいなので家に帰る時間はないので、夫はペットワースのカフェで待っていてくれます。

There are reasons why I often say “I went to a hair salon” quite often.  Although I have a Japanese driving license (I’ve been renewing it because I thought it might be useful, but I never needed it so I don’t think I will renew next time), I’ve never driven a car properly since I got the license, so my husband has to drive me.  It takes 30 minutes to Petworth and my hair cut takes about an hour or a little less so he waits for me in a cafe drinking coffee.

一方、カラーはやはりロックダウンになる前のクリスマス直前に行き始めた、チチェスターのチェーン店の美容院でしてもらっています。ペットワースの美容院よりもチチェスターの美容院の方が先に行き始めたのと、わたしがしてもらうカラーは単なる白髪染めなので特に技術が必要なわけではないので近い方が都合が良いのです。特にカラーは時間がかかるので（１時間半から２時間）、チチェスターなら夫は一度家に戻ってまた迎えに来てくれることが可能。チチェスターまでは車で１５分から２０分くらいで、それほど違わないようですが、２往復となると違ってきます。ペットワースの美容院で一度にしてもらうとなると多分３時間くらいかかることになり、３０分かけて２往復するのは大変。

However, I go to a chain hair salon in Chichester for my hair colouring. I started going there a little before I started going to the Petworth one, all they need to do there is colour the roots with dark colour so there is no great technique necessary – so I’d rather go to a place near home.  It takes nearly 2 hours to have my hair coloured, so if I have my hair cut and coloured at the same time it’ll probably take about 3 hours, which means my husband would have to come home then pick me up again, that’s a lot of driving if it’s in Petworth.  It’s 15 or 20 minutes to Chichester, which is only 15 minutes difference but 1 hour if you go up and down twice.

で、わたしの髪は美容師さんたちも驚かれるくらい伸びるのが早いので、今は３週間に１度根本を染めていただいています。ということで、平均して６週間に３回くらい美容院に行っている、という計算です。面倒ではあるのですが、かといって少しでも目立ってくるとストレスになるので仕方のないところ。

My hair grows very fast, every hairdresser I’ve had told me, so I need to have the roots coloured every 3 weeks at least, so I go to a hair salon 3 times in 6 weeks!  It’s a pain, but I hate it and find it stressful when my hair isn’t looking good so it’s something I have to do.

と、どうでも良い、長い前置きでした（笑）。

That was a lot of details for something nobody is interested in…

で、今日はペットワースに行った帰り、たまに行く「Cowdray Farm Shop & Cafe」のカフェでランチをしてきました。そこそこの規模のファームショップで、すごく大規模ではないのですが、ファームショップとしてはまぁまぁ品揃えも良い方なので、時々寄ってちょこっと買って帰ったりします。

Anyway, we stopped at “Cowdray Farm Shop & Cafe” for lunch on our way back from Petworth today.  It’s not huge but larger than many other farm shops I’ve seen, so they have quite good selections and we go there now and again and pick up this and that and have lunch in their cafe.

夫は、鹿肉のラグーのパスタを食べていましたが、多分パスタが茹ですぎで、フォークでくるっと巻こうとするとプツプツ短く切れるみたいで食べにくそうでした。お味は良かったみたいです。

My husband had Venison Ragu Pasta.  I think the pasta was overcooked – my husband was having trouble twirling the pasta with his fork because the pasta kept breaking into pieces.  He said it tasted good.

わたしは、フムスとアボカドのマッシュとほうれん草のサンドイッチ、手作りポテトチップス付き。噛むとアボカドマッシュがむにゅっと出てきて、食べにくかった。フムスとアボカドのマッシュの組み合わせはいまいちかな〜。

I had a sandwich – hoummus, mashed avocado & spinach – with homemade crisps.  When I bit into the sandwich, the mashed avocado was squeezed out, so it was quite hard to eat.  I wasn’t sure about the flavour combination of hoummus and mashed avocado, it didn’t seem to be great as all I could taste was the hoummus.
