クラフトショーの後、近くの街、ギルフォードでランチをしました。日本に住んでいた頃、年に１度のホームリーブでイギリスに来ると夫の会社の事務所が近くにあったのでギルフォードでよくお買い物をしました。わたしたちが今住んでいるところは田舎すぎて、お店の数も少ないですし、どこにもあるマークス＆スペンサーズなども品揃えがそれほど良くないので、ギルフォードにショッピングに行こうと何ヶ月も前から言っていたのがやっと実現しました。

After the craft show, we drove to Guildford and had lunch.   When we were living in Japan, my husband’s office was near Guildford and we used to do shopping whenever we came to England on home leaves.  Where we live now is in the country and even a town near here isn’t very large so not much fun for shopping, even Marks & Spencer’s doesn’t have a very good selection here, so we’ve been talking about having a day out to Guildford for shopping for months and months but hadn’t yet done it.

ちょうどランチタイムだったので、まずはランチ。ポジターノというイタリアンに行きました。

It was just lunch time when we got parked at the bottom of the town, so we had lunch first. We went to an Italian restaurant, “Positano”.

前菜に、アランチーノをシェアー。

To start we shared Arancini.

夫は、ラザニア。

Then my husband had Lasagne.

わたしは、シンプルなスパゲティー・トマトソース。

I had very simple Spaghetti al Pomodoro.

デザートにフォンダン・ショコラをシェアー。すごくリッチで、わたしは一口で十分でしたが、後は夫が問題なく完食。

Then we shared a Fondant Chocolat.  It was very rich so I had just one spoonful, my husband had no problem with finishing the rest.

 

美味しかったですし、サービスも良かったです。ワインを１杯ずつとガス入りの水を2本いただいて、６０ポンド。イギリスではかなりお安いのではないかと思います。

It was good and the service was good, too.  We had a glass of wine each and shared 2 bottles of sparkling water and the total bill including service was just over £60, which seems like a bargain in England.

 

最初に入ったお店で２品買って、後は結局マークス＆スペンサーズで３０分ほどぶらついた時点で（ランチに結構時間を取られたので）この時点でもう３時になってしまったので、結局お買い物は大してせずでした。

I bought a couple of items in the first shop we went in, then spent about 30 minutes in Marks & Spencer’s (but I didn’t buy anything) and it was already 3:00pm as lunch took quite a long time – so we didn’t really do that much shopping after all.
