We didn’t do anything much in the morning, just washed towels (we aren’t given many extra towels so we need to wash them often). I’m glad that the weather has been so lovely since we arrived in Japan, the washing dries very quickly. I see it’ll rain tomorrow, though.
Incidentally, I’m told the temperature dropped dramatically here a couple of weeks ago but it still feels quite hot to me. It’s between 22C-24C highest and I thought it was on the cool side when we had that temperature a week or so in England but here it feels very hot when we go out. It’s pleasant in the shade but not under the sun even with a parasol. I feel the sun seems stronger in England than here but the whole air seems hot … hard to explain. I saw that the temperature dropped down to 2C in England just a few days ago, that is a sort of temperature we expect in the middle of winter! Glad it went up again.
Anyway, after washing and hanging the towels, we did this and that until lunch time, then we went out for lunch. We headed to an Okonomiyaki restaurant called Boteju, which was supposed to be in Centre-gai in Sannomiya but when we got there we found it wasn’t there – it had closed down and been replaced by a different restaurant. We decided to go to Mac instead. I wonder how many years since we’d been to a Mac – probably about 15 years because I don’t remember going to one since we left Hong Kong although I have been to one in Japan a few times during those 15 years because there was a chicken burger I used to love called Chicken Tatsuta. Today, I wanted to have a seasonal special one with beef sukiyaki & egg. My husband had his usual Big Mac. We both had a set, which came with French fries and coke. I liked the bun of the Sukiyaki beef bun. I think their French frieds are good but I was surprised by the amount. Did we used to finish this much in the old days? We couldn’t finish French fries today.
After the quick lunch, I had a pair of reading glasses made, which took only 25 minutes. The ones I have been using were made in England (I think they took a week…) but they are meant for using when I am using my desktop computer and are not suitable for very close reading or work like embroidery. Also they are made for western faces so they don’t fit the shape of my face quite right.
We then went in a few shops like Zara, Uniqlo, Muji, I bought a few medicines fom a chemist (things like this takes quite a bit of time and I’m grateful my sister usually gets them and sends them to me). We didn’t buy a lot but I’m glad I had my glasses made and got some medicine on my list of ‘things to buy in Japan’.
We then came back to the apartment and doing what we often do – me blogging and my husband listening to music.
