夜中中寒くて、目が覚めるたびに「寒い〜」と夫と言っていましたが、途中ではたと気がついて、やっとリビングに置いてあった毛布を上にかけました。何度まで下がっていたのかは知りませんが、お昼になっても10度だったので寒いはずです。東京は少しずつ上がって数日後には20度になるようですが、神戸は当分14度とか15度とかで寒そうです、イギリスと同じくらい。

We were cold during the night and every time when we woke up we said, “It’s coooold!!” We should have done so earlier but later on I remembered there were blankets in the living room so we put one on top and that made us warmer. I don’t know how cold it was during the night but it was ony 10C at lunch time so no wonder it felt so cold. It looks like it’ll go out slowly to 20C or so in the next few days in Tokyo but not in Kobe, the forecast says 14C or 15C for a while, about the same as England.

さて、いよいよ、日本でのホリデーも今日が最後の1日となってしまいました（涙）。

Well, this is our last day of our holiday in Japan, we are leaving tomorrow.

何かどうしてもしなくてはいけないことがあった時のために、今日1日は何も入れずにいましたが、必要なことは全て終わっているので、ゆっくりしたいと思いながらずっと出来なかったお買い物をしました。

We kept today free in case we had to do something in the last minute but we didn’t have anything we had to do so we did some shopping, we’ve hardly had time to do shopping for fun.

お買い物の前に、まずランチ。夫が食べたいというので、トンカツにしました。来てすぐに1箇所行きましたが、美味しくなかったのです。今日は、借りているマンションから10分くらい歩いたところにある「とんかつ太郎」。随分前に1度弟と行ったことがありました。人気ですしお店が小さいですし予約は出来ないので大抵少し並びます。わたしたちが行ったときは1組（お2人）だけ並んでいて、15分ほど待って入れました。

Before that, we went to have Tonkatsu for lunch. We’ve been to one Tonkatsu restaurant, soon after we got here, but it wasn’t so good. This time we went to a place called “Tonkatsu Taro”, which is about 10 minutes walk from us in Motomachi. I’d been there once with my brother many years ago. They are very popular and the restaurant is tiny and you cannot make a reservation, so you almost always have to queue. Today, we queued after just 2 people, for about 15 minutes, so not too bad.

4人くらい（詰めればもう少し座れるかと）のテーブルが1つあるだけで、あとはカウンター席。わたしたちはテーブル席でしたが、相席でした。

There is only table pushed against a wall, we sat with 2 more people. Other than that, there are 6 or so seats along a counter.

夫もわたしも一口カツ定食。柔らかくてジューシーで、美味しかったです！

We both had a Hitokuchi Katsu set, which has small cuts of fillet, breaded and deep-fried, and comes with rice, miso soup, pickles and a lot of shredded cabbage.

ランチの後は、ユニクロへ行って短いダウンコートを買い（どこかで良いダウンがあればと思っていましたがお買い物をする時間がほとんどなく、特に素敵なコートは見かけなかったのでとりあえず持っていない短いのを持っていない色で買いました）、他にもちょこちょこっとお買い物をして、戻って来ました。本当ならモロゾフでお茶と何か甘いものでも頂きたいところですが、マンションにまだ食べなくてはいけないものが残っていたので、戻ってから休憩することにしました。

After lunch, I first bought a short off-white down coat in Uniqlo. I was planning to buy a nice down coat earlier on this trip but we hadn’t had much time to do shopping and I hadn’t seen anything I wanted, but now it’s so cold I do need one so I bought a cheap Uniqlo one, but something I don’t have. Then we bought a few bits and pieces and came home. We would have liked to stop at a cafe and have tea or coffee with something sweet but we had cakes and other things that we should eat in the apartment before we leave.

お買い物中に困ったのは、とにかく暑い！！いえ、外は寒いんです。でも、着込んで行ったものだから、建物の中に入ると暑い！もう、いきなり暖房がガンガンに入っていました。こうなると、中は夏物かと思うくらい薄手のものを着て、上に温かい分厚い軽いダウンを着るのが一番心地よくお買い物が出来ます。室内ではダウンを脱いで丁度良いくらい暖房が効いています。何枚も重ね着をしていると、中に入った時に何枚も脱がなくてはいけなくて、それをまた抱えて歩かなくてはいけなくて、お買い物はどうでも良くなってしまいます。そうだった、冬のお買い物はこうだった、と思い出しました。

One problem I found while we were doing shopping is that it was so hot! It is cold outside, so I was wearing a few layers, and as soon as we go inside a building it was over-heated and I got so hot. The best thing I find in this situation is to wear something very light like a summer top, then put a thick warm down coat on top. That way I’m warm outside and as soon as I go inside I can peel the down coat off, which is bulky but light to carry. Today, I didn’t have a coat to wear when we went out so I was wearing a few layers including a warm cardigan and a warm cape. Once I got inside I had to peel off the cape and the cardigan and carry them (well, my husband carried them for me but that’s not the point). It’s such a pain then I lose interest in shopping. I remembered that’s how it is in winter in Japan (and I think in many other places, including England.)
